Hi Sajha and its member....i am getting a teaching assistantship stipend monthly. The problem with me is that the university is not deducting any federal, state tax from my stipend even though they are paying me through cheque and through my SSN..Now, iam worry about the tax matter....i think i should pay those tax by myself and i donot have any idea how to do that..Do i have to pay the tax cuz at the end i will get hose tax back...my monthly stipend is $4250. Need your help!!

It doesnot matters whether they are holding your tax or not. Go ahead and file the tax, then pay whatever comes up. Then your fine. But don't except that you are getting the tax money back,because you will get the excess amount of tax you have paid during the year but in your case you haven't withheld you tax so you might end up paying more. And Keep in mind that you don't have to pay Social Security and Medicare tax if you are working in F1 status Good Luck.

Go to the IRS website and paid either credit card or bank account on quarterly basis. There is preformat form is available. Most of my friends are paying themself. It's correct, if you are in F1 status, it doesn't mean that you have suppose to pay Social Security and Medicare. Thanks
