Politically Novice observed: 1. The politics of Nepal is controlled by India. 2. The political leaders in Nepal are the pawns of external powers. They have no will and vision for the country. They act in the direction what the Indians want. 3. After making the king powerless- why the political parties need to protect him ? 4. Girija goes to India for blessings and listens to the Indian diplomates yet tells that Nepal soveirinity is in Danger - What the heck is that ? 5. Prachanda did the right thing (even though they had to take this action to keep their existance intact) !! Let republicanism prevail. 6. Nepal will be in tormoil for a while but surely will progress.

Samsara Sir I thing I don't understand is everybody's agenda is Republic Nepal. Why the current parliament does not want to declare that ? Indian are telling Nepali Congress and CPN s not to do that ? If they have all the power to strip KG of all his powers why not to get rid of them as Moists have demanded ? If Prachanda and gang are successful in creating enough chaos in the streets of Kathmandu and throw stones at the ministers carcade - it is possible that the Republic Nepal will come to the scene. This stand of up Prachanda is equivalent to confronting India at this juncture to my novice mind.

Well, Maoists know that they can't win more than a few seats in the upcoming election. What a excuse to run away from the election. I had a feeling that they would make some excuses.

Novice you say: "I thing I don't understand is everybody's agenda is Republic Nepal." wtf?? Where did this come from?? This is what the fuggin Maobadis want, not ordinary citizens...Don't you know that?? We are all content with a ceremonial king with no powers aka United Kingdom/Sweden/Thailand/Denmark/Germany and whatever other nations out there. If developed nations like these have that, who are we to try and discard our history or culture?? If something needs to be discarded, its the damn commies. In its entire 100 year history, the commie system has brought about downfall of entire economies which were once bread baskets and had potential to become the industrial powerhouses (Russia, North Korea, Cuba). This system works well in theory but never has this been proven successful practically. You may say China but remember these fools aren't commies anymore. They've become Capitalists with a mask portraying commmunism. Look around, Every commie state's transitioning into a Capitalistic one whereas, we, who are already among the poorest in the world are trying to revive a system that will end up making us the poorest and that too for the next 100 years or more!!

Samsara Sir, Isn't the queen of UK, one of the most richest persons in the world ? Isn't the queen of Netherlands, queen Baetrix one of the richest persons in the world ? Don't Saudi King control the white gold ? Isn't sultan of Brunei worth 22 billion? King of Thailand, Bhumibol is worth 5 billion. These people have made thier fortune on their own by sweating their ass off? Yeah?? France got rid of the King... US has no king... At present context, if Nepal listens to Moists demand and get rid of the white elephants, would be more peaceful. It would at least demostrate that Nepal does bot bog down to foreign pressure and Girija will not have to whine that Nepal's soveirinity is in danger.

I totally agree with Samsara. Do hell with what Maoist want....They just want to rule the damn country and they don't give a damn if they'll have to use guns or knives..... Pure dadagiri.....Their tactic is "if you don't agree to what I say, I will protest without giving a damn how that would effect anyone else".....If everyone else starts adopting to Maoist tactics, then imagine how our country will be.... All others like King, Girija and other political figures also suck ass but at least they don't show guns to ordinary ppl and start killing 'em....F##K maoists...

Novice, Gyane may be rich but what about all the leaders who came in between and ate millions of development aid or the national budget expenses like I eat a plate of rice?? We were a nation doing well when we had only the king ripping us off. Now we have the SPA leaders (each one of them individually stealing and have made millions, GPK probably billions) and the newest looters on the block, the Maobadis. They're alleged to have stashed $400 million in Swiss accounts as per some Halshi Bash's account that has been widely circulated on the web and this will only continue until Prachanday and Baburam both cripple every friggin person in Nepal due to malnutrition. I don't want a North Korea for Nepal. BTW, Nepal is a nation that will be economically dependent as we JUST DON'T HAVE THE NECESSARY RESOURCES to function independently. If its India today, one we're under the commie tyrnanny, it'll be China pressuring us under its yoke!! To talk about Nepal's sovereignity is in itself a misnomer!

Who is the lesser of all evils? Gyane hands down. But since his mobility has been restricted by the commie infiltrated/influenced parliament, he is not a viable option anymore. GPK is a notch above Prachanday and he for the time being is the best option we currently have. BTW, let the elections take place and the new government could decide if a republic would best suit Nepal's national interest. And if this is a democracy, let the King contest the elections and see where he stands before we all shut the bugger down. BTW, the Maoists know they are going nowhere and are running with their tails under their azzes.

Look at the face of the second man of CPN-Maoist while he was addressing at Khulla Manch. Looks like a dead man. No feelings. No shame. No respect for Nepal and Nepalese. Only feeling of retribution and ambition to be a ruler (dictator). They do not accept people’s choice (election). Is the constituent Assembly election (even date proposed by themselves) a hypocritical drama? I would say he is staging a shameful drama. When Nepalese have a chance to write their own constitution by themselves (through courtesy of their revolution destroying physical and emotional infrastructures), now they are trying to thwart it. Unbelievable! Seems childish but definitely malicious full of conspiracies to inflict a deep mayhem to Nepal and the Nepalese! After years of unsuccessful efforts a couple was successful in conceiving but the father wants abortion simply because baby is a girl not a boy. Can you believe such a story? But you have to. Here is a quote of one of their senior leaders: "Only the reactionaries and middle class people of urban areas have misunderstood us." What it means? All those opposing their autocratic means and terrorist tactics are reactionaries in their eyes. They cannot accept opposition. What kind of breed you are? How can educated mass approve of their disorderly and erratic behavior? Middle class people of the urban areas are educated mass and they cannot fool them. Maoists got to know this truth. They are partly successful in selling dreams to the portions of the poor and uneducated people of Nepal but cannot fool educated and cognizant mass within or outside Nepal. When their so-called people’s movements were in place, many thought they are a product of palace to rob of people’s 1990 achievement. But now it is crystal clear that they are a brainchild of our friendly neighboring country. Otherwise they could not have fought such a nationwide prolonged war in an unfavorable environment (against communism) even difficult for the government having so many resources, experiences and international supports. Why Nepal was supported with arms and ammunition by the neighbor country? To show to the world that they are helping fight Nepal government with terrorists whereas they are actually harboring the terrorists. Had any movement to remove the king came from the Madesh or Terai like Maoists did, everybody would have known without a second thought that it is neighbor’s move. So our neighbor tactically decided to do with Maoists who are in-born anti-king. See the trick. Their one point struggle for removal of kingship is a part of weakening the country. There are so many malignancies, discrepancies and things to do away but they see only the king in their way? Why? They will be written down in history of Nepal as the enemies of Nepal and Nepalese. They never loved Nepal and Nepalese. If the king has to be removed it should be decided by the Nepalese people through universal franchise (referendum) not from the street agitation. Or a provision should be written in the constitution of Nepal that kingship may be removed any time by the two third majority of the parliament when the elected people’s representatives feel to do so. Prime Minister should approve it and go for a referendum to endorse from the citizens of Nepal. No need to shed blood. We are living in modern era. Wisdoms and brain should prevail not the arms and coercion. If this government can decide on everything as being asked by the erred CPN-M a day may be closer than expected that it will decide one day to merge into a neighbor country or split the country.

I agree whatyousay. I want to ask is there only 8 parties in nepal. There are other parties in Nepal too. They should be given fair chance to save kingship thourgh election. At will it will bring transperency and get much more respect. If king is removed now, Gyanendra(who have been very silent and sedate) is sure to strike back. And it will be destructive for Nepal. I still believe we should save vestigeal stage of King in Ceremonial state.

Fug da damn Maoists...They're a bunch of BS who should've never been in the govt in the first place...MadDoGG and whatyousay have hit the nail on the head. The educated middle/upper class are the ones who have and always will say NO to communism. Are we fuggin stupid? This demented fool Baburam and the egomaniac, Prachanday thinks that the city folks are as ignorant as the damn villagers they've been terrorizing for the past 15 years. This is bull!! BTW, thyangboche, where da fug did that come from?? I DO NOT KNOW everything. This is all MY analysis and its subject to debate. If you have a point that makes sense, I myself will say that my analysis has been debunked, aight?? Also, you should be my home-minister, nincompoop. When did I ever express an interest in government office?? Seriously, cats need to go and do something productive rather than fabricate BS here. As ma man, Cat Williams says, "This is BULLSHIT!!"

Maoists' 22-point demands were legitimate, says Amik Sherchan People's Front Nepal (PFN) chairman Amik Sherchan remarked that Maoists' "exodus" from the government has added "new difficulties" in institutionalising the achievements of People's Movement II and fulfil the mandate given by the people through it, but also said the Maoists were left with no option than this. Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters in Tinkune Wednesday, chairman Sherchan said the 22-point pre-requisites set by the Maoists for continuing in the government were very much legitimate. Chairman Sherchan further said there is still some possibility left to make the Maoists participate in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election and that the seven political parties should take the required initiatives for it. Saying that the demands for PR-based electoral system and declaring the country a republic through the interim parliament – both of which feature high on the 22 point pre-requisite of the Maoists - were first raised by People's Front Nepal, chairman Sherchan said it was unfortunate to see the Maoists failing to convince the coalition partners to approve it while there was still time. "The Maoists were left with no option but to launch a programme of strong protests to establish a republic because Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala hesitated to express his commitment towards republicanism," he added. nepalnews.com ag Sep 19 07 Related news - UNMIN urges parties to find a way out of current stalemate - Maoists quit govt; announce protest movement

During the meeting, the duo discussed Maoist decisions to quit the government and launch street agitation. Malik expressed concern over the Maoist decisions as they could disrupt the peace process, Maoist sources said. He also informed that his country would try its best to assist the on-going peace process in Nepal. Dr Bhattarai informed that the Maoists would not derail the peace process, sources added.
