Maoists force 74-year-old to live in cowshed
Kathmandu , 14 Feb: A 74-year-old resident of Kathjor VDC-6, Ramechhap, has been forced to live in a cowshed with her daughter for a year after Maoists padlocked her house and threatened to take physical action if the lock was broken.

The Maoists padlocked the house of Ratna Devi Adhikari because her son, Tarani Shankar Adhikari, a VDC secretary, refused to resign from the post.

According to her, the Maoists also looted all valuables — including each and every household utensil — from her house. They claimed that the house belonged to their organisation, she said.

“I have been compelled to live like this because my son, despite several requests, refused to resign from the post,” she said. Saying that the Maoists had looted goods worth over Rs 1 from his house, Tarani Shankar said the Maoists had also threatened his 45-year-old wife Anju Adhikari.

About the same time last year, the Maoists had also looted the house of a local teacher, Ram Chandra Adhikari, and padlocked it.

The teacher’s family has been living at Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, since then.

Lets hope the maos don't get to take over Nepal. If they do I cannot even imagine how much of a deep shit Nepal will be in. I hope the people of Nepal as well as the SPA realise this as soon as possible before they are doomed.
