Now that it looks like the "jana-andolan" is fizzling out, what next? What is the outcome of those four who died in this fight and thousands who were injured? Why did this struggle not remained strong and who is to blame for that?

Because last few days we saw ordinary people coming down in the street and that is the jana-andolan. Party people doing demostrations is not jana-andolan. Now the problem with jana-andolan is that it is usually short lived but very intense. If the goal could not be reached within those short few days, two things happen - one, ordinary people get tired of coming down in the street, two, ordinary people have other needs and responsibilities, like running a family, etc. And that is what is seems to be happening in Nepal. I could be very wrong. In fact, I wish I am wrong, but that is the direction I see this movement is going towards.

i cannot agree that andolan did not remain strong. every sector, industry, and people from all walks of life are coming out to support teh janandolan including lawyers, students, NGO workers, doctors, tourists, governmetn staff...and so on. and not just in ktm, all over the nepal. and it did not fail, becasue it accurately portrayed te public sentimetn agasint teh king to the country and to the international community.....so man international communiteis like teh UN, EU, US, canada, india and other humans rights groups critisized teh king......teh picture is only gettign clearer, i would like to think so. PABSON even annoucned taht it is going to give scholarship to the children of the martyrs who died in teh clash between the protestors adn the police.

Well, you are right about what you said, Ifc. I agree that the international community does not support the king, although I have my own question about India's motive in that. But that is different matter. I also agree that different sectors of life is supporting this movement. But the mere fact that the jana-andolan is stretching longer is not a good news in itself for its own existence. The question is how many days ordinary people come down in the street? How many days people think that they need need to court arrest to make this movement a success? How long can they put other needs on hold to make this movement happen?

Also, don't forget that people are trying to choose lesser of the three evils. I think people are very well aware that whoever gets to the power, they are going to be equally corrupt and will not do any darn thing for the country. This factor could actually get into mob psychology very easily and could be a de-motivating factor for the continuation of the movement.

Janandolan is fizzling out? eh... hoina hola!! Well, what next? hmmm... I won't be surprised if someone plays Judas of the new testament in the love of PM's chair, forms an interim government and vows an election, and everything is back to square one. Eh... height of pessimism. eh.
