am a nepali student currently living in europe and would like to enroll myself in an american university..my question is : do i need to be in nepal for the administrative formalities to acquire a student visa for the US ? OR, can i apply for a student visa from here ? thanks, help would be much appreciated

You should be able to do from there. A Nepali student in my university came here directly from Belgium

The rules have been changed to make sure you have to apply from Nepal.

Folks In this case it all depends on consular who is dealing your case, his mood. Last yearone of my friend came to US from germany. He was on student visa in germany ( Land of MOHMAD ATTA's University).My friend applied for US visa from germany.He said he didn't have any problem in getting visa. Another case one of my friend who applied from Toronto was rejected coz he was on student visa in tronto, the consular asked him to go to Nepal and apply for a visa. So like I said it depends on his mood and "GOOD LUCK" Peace out
