Before I had my first coffee, I read the title as "beans banned". That would have been good news for people from Kathmandu who take public transportation. At least there would be no after bean effect and they can breathe freely :) during their rough commute to work/school/hanging out in the park.

I know its funny that he said King Birendra, but i also heard this from my brother that, police are harassing the kids with long hair, and who are wearing torn jeans etc, basically if you dress like a teenager, i remember they used to do this, everyonce in a while before also. They have nothing better to do, aba with no one to criticize them, they can do whatever.

Guys are not allowed to keep long hairs. This has been in effect already. Police grabs the guys with long hair, take them to police station, cut their hair. But the interesting thing is, we can imagine the pain of loosign long hair those who worked hard and on top have to pay fine as well. Wah wah, Kahin nabhako jatra Handigaun ma..

It looks like the little guy is holding something in his hand that extends down to the lady's ankles. She does have the same shoe looks like.

MM le hasayo yespali!
but given the despotic situation at home, I wouldn't be surprised if the royal mandates advocated burka and hijab to preserve women's (feminist) rights. If suspension of democracy for democracy is possible, why not?!

Slight digression on Sitara's note: I have always found it amusing that the folks who often claim to be advocating women's rights are usually men.

One day the TSA will require everyone passing through the security check point to wear torn jeans and shirt so that any concealed weapons could be seen without the aid of metal detector. Nepal should move on this direction too and allow people to wear torn jeans. At least nepali police/army won't have to live in fear if someone has weapons strapped in their body.
