Peter started to get nepalese temple ball has ans nepalese finge or rope hash. Anyone who has smoked nepali hash, will never forget their first time. I remember mine-the rush was so strong that i had to sit on floor ans hold on. What a taste! stuff like that sold itself. Peter .............................................., and i kept busy selling Nepalese has. Rather, it flew out my right pocket and filled by left pocket by loot. Selling Nepalese hash has, and will always be, a blessing. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................... Peter wanted me to arrnage someone to pick up at the airport the next load of nepalese hash. The hash was built into a wooden crate that contained a rare Tibetan Mastiff dog. All i had to do was find someone to go ans collect it at U. S. custom at JFK, and he would split the deal with me 50/50. when i think back to that time 30 yrs ago, i am amazed we weren't buste. But the deal was idiot- proof. IN 1973, RICHARD NIXON, and his recently established DEA, paid the ........................................................$50-$70 million dollars to make marijuana ans hashish illegeal in Nepal. Over night ....... created a criminal society, he made an ordinary thing extra ordinary ans a huge black market was created.

Looks like the book is based on the "Flower Power" days. Therefore, a bit dramatized. There's no way to verify its authenticity...! May be the writer himself was in a trip when he wrote the book...:-)

sir sandsoftime naah its correct as regarding to money given to make hashis illegal but it was given on condition to that money to be used to find alternative for those ppl who made their livings by growing poppies. What i am trying to solve is $50-7- million is huge sum during 1973, where that money was spent? was it used for those ppl mentioned at conditioned. Ii am just scratching my head, to find out this i went to National archieves today. It indeed confirm that it was paid that sum of money. It also points somthing about insurgency which was link to this poppy harvesting and situation after a 90s' system change. I will post it here real soon. Some of pic are really disturbin. with peace and love

Fact about HASH and Marijuana at FreakStreet.. Around Mid 70s Nepal economic was so flourshing and tourism business was booming. Though Jyoche and Basantapur was infamous among others by name FREAKSTREET, those places where haven for hippies and freak tourist, like as Amsterdam now. Then Hash and Marijuana was legal. The junction around Basantapur used to gathered lots of tourist just for that sake. Nevertheless, inspite of their (hash & marijuana) availibility, society then was decent enough to consider the substances for business but not for consumption. Freakstreet then held the legendary status for pot smokers where they can order a pot without being paranoid about the police. Not just a pot, due to high score of tourist every year, Nepal was getting fame among the westerner for its enriched culture and classic existence . Would have been legal until 90s, I can literally imagine Nepal economic multi better than now it is. Ya swaati could be right, since majority of tourist where americans, Nixon bribe handsome money to king of nepal to stamped HASH and Marijuana illegal. Impact was on economy due to sluggish tourism business. If it was legal as it is now in Amsterdam and Vancouver, Kathmandu would have been paradise...

well, Nepal was indeed a great flourishing nation in 70's when there was a flood of hippies. It also brought attention to lot of rock star like Bob Dylan, Jim morrison etc etc. My dad use to have a shop as well at that time with his partner in freekstreet called shiva hash shop where they use to sell lot of weed good quality coming most from lamjung. He even mention me that there was a place bit far from TU somewhere between chovar and Dakshin Kali where all the smokers use to gather and get high. It all started fading after the Congress led movement by BP Koirala. Late King Mahandra become consieness for raising a plot against his rein. He Banned the Marijuna andmvade all the tourist exhile. I think it had been cool there. There was a chance of being everyone getting hippie types. It will lead to laziness, Philosopical view and stuff like that. I thinkl we should open a door for weed legal in Nepal. The nations are getting legals on weed are now switzerland, England allows certain amout of weed to carry. It is also iron truth that since the holland goverment annouce the weed legal, the rate has been droped on smoker by big margine.

Drinking Kills more than Smoking Weed. No doubt about it. Smoking keeps you away from trouble and makes you peaceful.
