I need your suggestion. I am planning to visit Nepal pretty soon. Is it safe to go to Nepal under the conditions that can result death. injury. abduction.. or anything like that?

First I thought that I will go to Nepal.. definately.. but after my friend's parent told me about the situation.. i have been in doubt.. so help me.. if you were me, will you visit Nepal now?

If you are from village controlled by Maoist, I would suggest not to go.

Well, when I think twice, I feel like going.

I fear that I might not meet my friends if I do not go now. Who knows what might happen to them in Nepal?

i just visisted nepal, and stayed there for 5 weeks, i had no trouble at all, i am pretty sure no one will give u any trouble, it is 100% safe to go there. at first i was scared, by hearing all these news, but once i got there it was totally different. Especiallly when they know that u came for a visit to nepal, u will be more safer.

Major bad happenings in town:
-One bomb in Jawalakhel, one dead; I was in the vicinity and heard the blast.
-One bomb in Koteshwor, one dead.
Life is still going on as normal as it can get. The only thing that's killing me is a massive cold and many doses of adhuwa- besar-tulsi pani!

Because of the maoist activities 9000 died in 9 years. Is that scaring you ? My friend, statistically speaking that is not more than the number of the ppl that get killed in US.
Just check, how many ppl get killed in US every year by shooting?
How many ppl get killed in accident in US every year?
Ok, forget about entire US check how many ppl get killed in car accident in your state? and what is the probability of you being in that unfortunate happeneing?
What is the rate of killings in Dc, CA or in NY ?

Ofcourse, nowadays, Nepal is not safer than good olden days but still the probability of getting caught in unfortunate situation is far less than in many US states.

I understand you are trying to make a point to blashpheme about being caught in the crossfire. But please don't make comparison with gangster shooting and car accident deaths in US to maoist led intentional killing in Nepal. That's pretty dumb.

You are partially right,
Without being prejudice to the nature and type of fight/killings I was talkeing mere statistics. Statistically, the probality of getting killed in US is more than in Nepal. I came to this conclusion by comparing the number of ppl killed in US per/yr and the number of ppl killed in nepal /yr (also keeping in mind the difference in population between thses two countries)

By reading bad news in news paper one shoulnt be get carried awaya. This is also my personal experience, we hear/watch about killing/bombing/ fighting in Israel almost everyday.I spent in Israel for three yrs. and I enjoyed my time there.

So, it was a comparison of statistics not the type and nature of killings. Anyway thank you, my friend, for you comments.

It's not about getting scared or something. Well, if it means that we can encounter death in every step we take, then we must plunge ourself in land filled of land-mines. How brave is that? I see that as stupidity rather than bravery. As someone pointed, there is difference in killing intention in here at US and at Nepal. May be I will not be killed, may be I will get abducted, who knows?

But the problem does not lie in Nepal being 'a Go-able place.' The problem is its worsening and nobody is doing anything. So, I do not hesitate to challenge my gentlemen collegues out here who labeled people who are not willing to go to Nepal, under present circumstances, a coward, and a non-Nepali, to go to Nepal and stay in Maoist controlled village, where people seem to be afraid of death and abduction all the time.

I recently read this news: Children at the age of 11/12 are getting married in Nepal to skip the possible recruitment to People's Army. What do you say about that, Mr Nepali guy.

I will go to Nepal anyways, but I will want brave souls out here to answer these questions, before they tag someone of cowardiness, and un-Nepali character.

you're not making much sense. Are you saying that your parents live in a Maoist-controlled area in nepal? If yes, your fears are certainly justified. If not, you're a little disillusioned, to say the least.

Everyone has a right to his/her life, and worry about it. And at the same time, the person has the right to feel scared. He/she has right to feel safe as well.
So to level blaspheme as a coward, non-nepali is simply stupid.
Giving him information about the safety in Nepal from your own experience is a different thing, and that is what he/she is asking here if I am not wrong.

At least from my experience, one of my brother's friends who had gone to visit his parents in remote part of Nepal, nearly got abducted. He had to run to Kathmandu over night to save himself.

one of my friend who is a Sniper Expert in Singapore police didn't go home,... because he was scared that he would get abducted.. Maoist needs guys like him.. so.. it's never safe..

Well to my understanding, you should go to Nepal as soon as you can because the situation of terror, uncertainty is not going to get better. The situation will worsen far more that what it is now, therefore who knows you might never be able to go to Nepal at all. So I suggest you to go right away before it is too late.

yes, i do agree with netaazi for now or never cuz situation is getting worse day by day. I do agree with sukuti too. I did experience the same situation as your brothers friend. I did have to pay some extortion money to maoist while my visit to nepal. I was there cuz my uncle passed away. By the way ppl told me that palpa is safe it is not as other places in nepal but .................. well wish u good luck.
