Hello. I'm on the second year of my STEM OPT, which is ending in March next year. I also have been granted tps. My employer denied applying for an h1b, mainly because my salary does not meet the $60k cap. Are there any other ways of maintaining my legal status besides going back to school? Thank you.

where in the heck did you find that 60k salary requirements ? I don't know about that if that had been recently passed or what? I guess requirements was at least the amount shown in the Labor Condition Application (LCA). One way to find tentative would be https://flcdatacenter.com/ go to salary wage wizard and put your state and occupation I think the salary should equal or exceed the level1 salary for h1b Do it and tell us how much it came ?
