Hi, My Work Permit card is missing. I looked everywhere possible, could not find it, I think it is lost. As I am preparing to re-register for TPS, looking at the section above number 1 that asks for our full name, it says " I am applying for ...and gives 3 options 1.- Permission to accept employment. 2.- Replacement (of lost employment authorization document). 3.- Renewal of my permission to accept employment (attach a copy of your previous employment authorization document). I am planning cross mark on - Number 2 & 3. The question is - would it be ok to mark 2 & 3 and send all other application documents ? I am specially concerned because Number 3 says- attach a copy of your previous EAD, which I could not find. Please help, if any of you have gone through similar problem, your thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. - Is there any number we could call to ask the USCIS representative?

Not a lawyer but i would have done this: - Check at only #3.- Renewal of my permission to accept employment (attach a copy of your previous employment authorization document). - I would have gone to https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do and put my receipt number and shows that it was approved - Also, I would have include the initial receipt i got when i applied for TPS - Include small note saying EAD card is lost, that why i am putting above 2 documents which shows it was appoved - If you ever worked using TPS-EAD, your employer might have copy of it Good luck!!

Hi Damauli Guy, Thanks for your succinct and helpful info. However, I do not have a copy of my work permit, which is so tragic. Do you have any thoughts about what could be done when the work permit is lost and no copy of work permit available. Usually I take a picture or make copies of important document, however, it was missed for the work permit. Thank you for your valuable suggestion and for taking time to respond.

You may apply to get lost EAD card. But since you have 60 days window to apply for renewal of TPS, there might not be enough time to get it done. So i recommend you to follow above steps i told and apply for TPS renewal. At the mean time, you may apply for replacement card as well. Seems like you are not using EAD card anyway, why do you even care !!

I agree with you, however , my situation seems to me slightly different from regular case. If we Check at only #3.- Renewal of my permission to accept employment (attach a copy of your previous employment authorization document). They want us to attach a copy of prior EAD, which I do not have. I went to the case status link, however I do not have LIN number, I tried one number before and after, but could not track to confirm what address it was shipped :) in USPS as it was several months ago. I could not find the initial receipt of tps, that would have been helpful as you rightly said. I was working long before TPS/EAD hence the employer did not bother asking about my new ead from TPS as I was on h1b before. So it seems like the only option I have is to check on Number 2 and write a note hoping they will approve. Any other helpful thoughts ?

You can send the copy of i94 front and back. Its one of the three docs that is needed for renewal: tps approaval, or ead front back or i94 front and back. Also select renewal. By the time your application is processed, the printed validity on that card may already be gone. For the lin, did you loose both the ead notification and tps? if you have one of the above, they are sequential.

If you just choose #2, you might just get your card which is about to expire. It might be a good idea to choose both 2 & 3. You may just want to include cover letter describing your situation.
