I am working as a system admin and Recently got job offer of system engineer, will it be easier than system admin job? Please let me know as per your real time experience. Thanks in advance!

System Engineer gets involved in a architecture of the infrastructure.You should be able to know the environment more deeply than system admin.Linux System Admin can know only the linux infrastructure, run linux commands on boxes and get your way around operating system.System Engineer goes above that and knows about Networking,Storage as well as servers.

This was my experience as i went from that transition.Others might have different experience.

Good companies would organize training and would have proper documentation on their environment . It's perfectly fine to say you do not know as you were a Linux Admin before.
I am still short handed at Networking but i am getting my way around storage.
