Hello Friends, Have your parents applied for tourist visa while you were on H1-B ? If so, was it self or sponsored by you? I am thinking to have my parents do it as Self. Would I still require to send them my H1-B approval, letter from client and all that good stuff ? Thanks

Yes u need to provide those all good stuffs just to bolster the visa application. Your parents will sponsor themselves but they are coming here to see you so the counseler wants that u r in a legal working position which will be reflected by ur h1 acceptance and employment verification letters. Dont forget to include ur invitation letters.

What if you are in F1 and working in OPT? Can you sponsor your parents in that case?

Every NIV applicant needs to demonstrate their qualification on their own merits. Therefore, any documents you send from US side will not be of much help for their cases. However, they will definitely bolster your parents probability of qualifying for the visa.

@USvisa ExEmployee....your last two statements contradict each other; if the documents sent from US side will not be of much help, how will they bolster one's parents' probability of qualifying for the visa?

Well, First of all B1/B2 visa commonly called as tourist visa can not be sponsored. So anybody visiting on that visa has to show significant ties with his/her home country( economical , social, familial etc) . Your invitation letter will just provide them a valid reason to visit USA. Having said that, if you have good income and have abided by all the rules in the USA (like tax retuns, no criminal records etc) that will help to convince the visa officer that whoever you are inviting may also be a law abiding citizen.
