oi oi oi, I graduated with a degree in EE a few years ago and at the time I didn't think twice about going to Nepal. I had a decent job lined up and wanted to gain experience in the US. I have been now working for 2 years and I think I made the right decision. I don't know what my life would have been if I had gone to Nepal but I can tell you what your life might be like if you stay... You can probably get an entry level job at a software/electronics company. It should be quite technical and hours won't be as stressful as college might have been. So you will have a lot of time to develop skills that college education necessarily doesn't give. You might work with pretty cool technology but rather than the technical aspects I value the other skills I've learned at my job...learning to deal with people and using resources (anywhere from your teammate to upper level management to customers) in a professional setting, getting handed a problem and figuring out solutions, asking the right questions, understanding how a business operates. I don't know how many years I will be in the US but the growth opportunity here is tremendous. It's a meritocracy so the only person holding you back will be yourself. Now, you said you miss nepal. If that's your sole reason for going to Nepal then I think you should stay. It's natural to miss your family and friends. But I wish you would have said 'malai desh ma gayera kehi garna man cha.' So, I will assume you want to go and do something in Nepal. My advice is, go for it! But know what you are getting into and have a plan at the minimum. You don't have to build circuits. You have seen how things are in the U.S. The wealth of knowledge you have acquired can be put into coming up with innovative ideas. There are folks who have started schools in rural areas. Volunteer for projects. Travel the country and identify problems and think of solutions. If you have great ideas, getting money won't be impossible. There is facebook, sajha, and tons of help in the web. These days it's not unheard of people getting a group of friends and starting a company together. Don't be afraid to take risks. In the end, it won't be the grades you got in your classes or how quickly you can find gain of an amplifier. It will be how much passionate you are. If you want to contribute in making Nepal better, my best wishes to you! FF

I always wanted to go back for the past 4 years. My parents tell me to come back and start to do something. I went back to Nepal after staying here for two years and stayed for 3 months. I even started a company but from the very beginning everthing staters to hold you back. There are hurdles from registering your company. Then there are basic things needed to run a business. Power, infrastructure, logistics, manpower and as many other basic needs. Then there is cheap competition with Chinese products and there is people who wants commission just to run your business smoothly. Then there is loadshedding,water and political instability, felt so hopeless and sorry for myself in the end and then came back here again. When I say this to people they say I am being naive. They say I can't get hot shower and a/c house and car which can't be expected in nepal. And talk about hygiene and pollution and the mismanagenet of every possible sector, it's is very shameful. Working a regular job won't be enough to cover your expenses and talk about the level of inflation , it's ridiculous. And there are 20 gundas from 20 different parties or parley you need to feed just to operate. Ma desh Gayera kehi garchu bhanne aant garnu pani garo kura ho. I don't think this generation will ever return back to Nepal and the next generations born will love this place. But going back without money and solid idea and just to work for a day job is just a mistake. Nepal Ko Maya nabhako hoina ni Feri, gali chahin plzz nagrnu hola.

I have been back in Nepal for almost a year. Didn't get an Engineering degree, so can't say much in terms of that field.
Speaking of my experience, I have worked for many different companies. I finally decided to work for a start up dot com company, where I am really enjoying myself. I am learning to deal with the bureaucracy here, meeting a lot people and increasing my domestic network. I'm sure having working experience in different places can only be a plus point.
There are opportunites here, if not then you have to make your own. I know it's easier said than done. At times Nepal can be frustrating but I feel the worse can only make your stronger.

I think its all in The MIND, you are the one who is fighting, and this is natural, setbacks are important, there will be problems every where, anywhere, so- Problems as driving force should be in backdrop, However, if problems did not exist, the challenge and charm of life will be gone. Problems make us more compassionate. They help us mature, and make us more resistant and at the same time create sensitivity in us. so you have the youth energy, survive anywhere Janmabhumi can be your karmabhumi. Try it in Nepal man

Sathi go to Nepal if you wish, I know a lot of people who have completed their F1 and have not found a job due to companies not hiring people who need work sponsorship. At this point if you have OPT i would say try to find a job here and see where that takes you. If not go to Nepal and see if you can work something out there, don't just go back without any experience or money unless you have a job lined up back home. Either way if you can afford to you can always try to come back to US or go to other places to do your Masters degree or PHD .

Let's make it simple;
If you get job with in 2-4 months then Stay or go back to nepal rather then working in GAS Stations or any such low paid job.
Good Luck.

Going to Nepal should be your decision. You don't need to look for other people's answer. In our own country, if you look around, you can see different sorts of people. A girl returned almost 1 karod rupees that she found in a bus. Another man (with the assistance of his family members) murdered his wife because 'she didn't bring a buffalo and TV' in dowry.
So, go figure.
I had a cousin who went back to Nepal after his undergraduate and taught in Pokhara engineering campus before going abroad again for his graduate school. He stayed abroad after his PhD, but he tells me that he feels very proud of his years in Pokhara.
Do whatever pleases you. I have always admired people who has gone back to Nepal. I can't say the same thing about those who are staying here.

Gajab chha baa
If someone from pokhara travels to kathmandu for business then he's not welcome in pokhara anymore.
Haha that's the kind of logic this Nepali Citizen has.
Why are you even writing in English? you should be writing in Nepali!
