I have been trying to record one song on Audacity over a track and I cannot get a good output. First, it sounds like I am singing in a closet and when I add the reverb, my vocals get distorted. The quality of my mic and the recorder is pretty good. Is there any better free software for recording? Is there any editing i can do to make the record sound close to studio recording or at least natural? How could I avoid distortion of the vocals?
Thanks in advance.

Try adobe audition. Also vocals is the hardest part to record in a song. If audacity offers filters, try a cut off filter at around 80 hz. Next mess around with equalizers. Adobe audition offers general eq and parametric eq. Finally add reverb. If nothing avails email me ur vocal recording track and i will try to fix it as much as possible and then email it back to you. Good luck. furykacid@gmail.com
