I wanted to share some great news with all my colleagues. I just received a confirmation from an institution in the US offering me full tuition scholarship for January session. Their requirement was a minimum 1290 in Critical Reading and Math in SAT and I exceeded that. Are there any one out there who have this score, I am sure there are many, and would like to receive full tuition scholarship guaranteed for four years? Email me (mitraista@gmail.com) and I will provide you with their information. Going to the USA…..my dream is finally becoming a reality!!!

Your post reeks of a scam. There are plenty of colleges that offer full tuition scholarships and there are no hidden deals to get them. Why not give your 'colleagues' the name of the college that made your dream a reality? The whole language of the post can hardly be attributed to a high school graduate from Nepal! Here's an easy site for students to look up colleges that have generous aid/scholarship: http://www.internationalstudent.com/schools_awarding_aid/ You can search such colleges by state and compare the average number of international students who get aid and the average amount of aid that was provided. From the colleges you are interested in, you can follow up with a simple email to their international student coordinator or financial aid officer to find out what the maximum scholarship is. Hope that helps.

My friend FunkyBuddha, You misread the whole point. This is not about competing or scamming rather trying to share my own experience. Let us know if you have a single institution that offers full tuition just based on your SAT scores to first year students without trying to go through all the hassle. Going through the list and trying to find the right institution is not a joke, anyone can provide the link. Probably you are in the US with such good English but please don’t undermine the education standards of Nepal since we have excellent schools with great education system!

So why the heck are you not naming the college? I'm not in scamming business to know of such wonderful colleges. Ever heard of Williams or Amherst College? They not only pay tuition and fees but also summer flight expenses to visit home. And no, it's not just based on SAT. One needs to demonstrate a zeal for knowledge. But there are plenty others with a cutoff on SAT and GPA to be considered for full tuition scholarships, St. Peter's College in NJ, Susquehanna University in PA being few examples. Don't try to act smart. The last time I was in Kathmandu, it was disheartening to see how the consultancies were exploiting students. So if you are genuinely interested in helping out fellow Nepali students, please be kind enough to tell the name or stop the game.

Fact: No college or university, absolutely none, will grant scholarship or admission based only on the SAT score.
Fact: If you have high SAT score, high school transcript with excellent marks, solid recommendations and well written application essay(s), most if not all schools will grant you admission.
Fact: Most schools such as - Williams College, Princeton University, etc. - that are ranked "very competitive" by Peterson's Guide will find a way for you to attend. Your financial assistance will be mostly in the form of grant as you are an international student.
So, if you are a prospective student, keep these facts in mind as you navigate the application process and beware of those rascals who say s/he can provide you with scholarship whether you meet all, and I mean all, criteria.

Glad to know that we have Nepalese living in the US with so much information and still don't want to share it with the community. FunkyBuddha you seem to be full of resources but still don't see you sharing such information with us all! I hope this is a wake up call for you to keep on posting in Sajha about good resources out there so that we all can benefit. Good start! Well, you got it right St. Peter's College in NJ, is where I am going guys and was based on my SAT. :-)
