Nice article, kudos to Shradha Ghale. http://www.ekantipur.com/2010/05/10/oped/all-too-predictable/313982/ The Nepali Buddhijivis took out a peace rally in Nepal to oppose the 6 day bundh! but i ask where were our buddhiman nepali buddhijivi barga when 2 times election looser Mr. MKN was nominated the PM? When Girija daughter was nominated the FM, deputy PM? kaha thiye buddhijivi haru tyeti khera.? Isn't it a mockery of Democracy where in our country one lost election from not one but 2 places and became a PM but all the buddhijivi's went on for one sided educated mob lynching against the m-badis when the regular under privileged nepali people wanted to ask for justice? wanted that their voice be heard and more over have their leaders in power they voted overwhelmingly? i hate how m-badis do politics but i have come to loath even more is the short sightedness our so called buddhijivis of nepal. i am disgusted. My two cents!! Shabda ko Artha Nepali Buddhijivi = Nepal ka pade lekheka daktar, eenginiyar, patrakar, bisinesmyan aadi ityadi jasle 6 dine nepal banda biruddha pish ryali nikale ka thiye

Neutral (unaffiliated) people including "Buddhijibis or intellectuals" except "maoist affiliated nagarik munch opportunists such as Sundar Mani Dixit and Khagendra Sangraula" don't care who become the minister or prime-minister. Everyone knows that as long as Prachande becomes PM, they're willing to submit the whole cabinet members not only to non-winners but to even non-CA (constituent assembly) member. Print media even mysansar wrote maoists' then negotiation with congress to even make the most corrupted 'Sujata' as PM to defeat Makune.
So the peace rally by intellectuals was not about making or dissolving the government, it was about fundamental human right to LIVE on which maoists were betting. I hate Makune but he didn't come to take forceful donations from you or to forcefully stay at your house or to eat your hard-earned food for free or forced you to close your business or force you from not getting your vital supplies such as water, food or medicines or force you not to speak against makune or force you take you ill family member by foot to hospital while maoists were travelling by bus or force you to sleep without food (for all day-laborers) or force you to bear the loss for whole one-week (you still have to pay the rent or any other utilities but you didn't earn anything for a week.
The list goes on and on. I hate makune for not fighting back with maoists. Is this the kind of PEACE nepali people want? Is this the kind of PEACE terrorist maoists sign to come to the main stream?
I bet Mr. Taklu, you don't have an answer. I challenge you to come out here and let's see how much of brain you got; I again bet you've donated it to maoists a long time ago (and this time perhaps you did it voluntarily).

Don`t compel these buddhiji to raise their weapons.. if they ever have to come.. all these netas will be wiped out.... They are still exercising tolerance... don`t fog the nation.

Mr. Arahat, You said that some scribe reported that M-badis and Girija had agreed a secret pact to make Sujata the PM - Agreed nothing could have been more disastrous than that happening. But my friend that again is a rumor and a rumor cannot compare to some thing that is already out there - MAKUNE is the PM! and Sujata is not! Like I said I am not with the M-badis and I am definitely not rooting blindly for them as you are blindly against them. I had loathed and detested them when they were in power and when they tried to get things done by twisting the arms of sojha - sajha Nepali janta, as much as I loath now that sojha- sajha Nepali janta are in the receiving end again. Had our "buddhijivis" taken to streets about 1 year ago when MAKUNE was nominated the PM, i do not think that this point of confrontation between two sects of Nepali janata (the have-alls and the have-nots) would have even erupted. Our Nepali peoples utter disrespect for the system is what has caused this. Mind you M-badis had won the election with majorti vote some 210+ (i believe) compared to all the "satta-rudh dals" clearly indicating who the Nepalese people want to see in power. But hey are they ruling? - No Mr. MAKUNE is ruling!! Did he even win election? No he lost not in 1 but in 2 places. Clearly we can see what janata wanted but what they got instead. So how will he - "Mr Not By-The Poeple" would even be accountable for the people. Of course not, his fortune is not by virtue of people's mandate at all. Now I know some people will say why did M-badis run from power when they had it all. For them I give one example - If a CEO of a company cannot fire a watchman who is going against the company policies - then what CEO is he? Again, my friends don't judge me and label me. I am just saying wrong is wrong and we should uphold the the truth and fairness no matter what and who benefits from it. Truth always wins and majority counts not the just the Kathmandu elites. Proudly though, I am one too but with the balls to say - we've got it wrong this time folks!!!

Taklu Hopefully you got your answer from Kukur and Aarahat. But if you still don’t get it, let me ask you this. Did MaKuNe forced Prachanda to step down or came to your house and held a gun in front of you and claimed his premiership? I am by no means a Makune fan, but the election was for CA posts primarily, nobody voted for PM or presidency. MaKuNe is an ineffective leader who craves in to the bullies like India and Sujata (with her back support) but he didn’t kill thousands to get to that place. Besides, didn’t Prachanda “rule” for months and just like that quit the post? Now what changed that he had to bring almost entire Nepal on a stand still? For what? Reascension to the throne? Post ma bhabela ni ke nai khyasyo ra? I mean really, was the whole thing worth it? The “buddhijiwi” didn’t rally to support MaKuNe, they rallied to support peace. Unlike the Naïve protestors, most whom I support, they know that all the options we have, the leaders and political parties, are not worth the blood shed—they aren’t going to do anything when they come to power so why all the maar-kaat? Having said that I have to admit that Maoists should be given the power back with political consensus. They did secure almost 50% vote. Give it to them until the constitution is drafted.

Thanks for the reply, Taklu.
You said that some scribe reported that M-badis and Girija had agreed a secret pact to make Sujata the PM - Agreed nothing could have been more disastrous than that happening. But my friend that again is a rumor and a rumor cannot compare to some thing that is already out there - MAKUNE is the PM! and Sujata is not! -> It was not only the rumor; it was the plan that failed. I gave you this example to show that Maos are willing to do anything to be in the government. If you read press archive, you can find out how Sujata was leaning with maoists at that time and Sujata openly supported maos for ousting Katuwal.
Like I said I am not with the M-badis and I am definitely not rooting blindly for them as you are blindly against them. -> Sorry, I can't agree with you again. I saw the things maoists are doing and the things they want to do i.e. destroy Nepal and Nepalese; that's why I'm against them. But you're definitely BLINDLY supporting them.
Had our "buddhijivis" taken to streets about 1 year ago when MAKUNE was nominated the PM, i do not think that this point of confrontation between two sects of Nepali janata (the have-alls and the have-nots) would have even erupted. -> Why should and would "buddhijivis" come to street to protest MAKUNE? Didn't I write that general people don't care who become PM. For them, everyone is corrupted. This time, general people came to street because their life has been at stake; they don't care about politics. For like any typical communist propagandists, you want to make HUGE issue out of it by saying they're vigilantes; why didn't they do or that earlier. It is not the resposibility of 'buddijivis' to meddle with any petty political issue.
Our Nepali peoples utter disrespect for the system is what has caused this. -> If there's anyone in whole Nepal who disrespect the system, it's Maos. Even ex-king respected the decision of the SYSTEM. But Maos only respect only when it's in their favor. AND the whole Nepal knows about it.
Mind you M-badis had won the election with majorti vote some 210+ (i believe) compared to all the "satta-rudh dals" clearly indicating who the Nepalese people want to see in power. -> If you respect the system, do you know the rules of the current system? What are the criteria for forming the government in Nepal? Is the present government made from the road hooligans?
But hey are they ruling? - No Mr. MAKUNE is ruling!! Did he even win election? No he lost not in 1 but in 2 places. Clearly we can see what janata wanted but what they got instead. -> There is no rule saying that MAKUNE can't be PM. No matter how much you or I hate it, he's the PM and according to our system, the ELECTED members in CA voted for him. Can you see your hypocrisy now? When the system is not in your favor, how you twist it? So how will he - "Mr Not By-The Poeple" would even be accountable for the people. Of course not, his fortune is not by virtue of people's mandate at all.
-> What is people's mandate? Are you saying that all those ELECTED members are not people's mandate? Perhaps, if you don't like the current system; you can propose the system where the LOSER can't be PM anymore; but that is not the case yet. Now I know some people will say why did M-badis run from power when they had it all. For them I give one example - If a CEO of a company cannot fire a watchman who is going against the company policies - then what CEO is he?
-> This analogy doesn't work here because the majority of the company members (board members or shareholders) voted against CEO's decision; so CEO's decision has to be revoked. There's no communist rule in Nepal yet.
-> I agree with all in the above paragraph except about kathmandu elites and balls, lol. -> Yes, definitely maoists have the ball; that's why they could murder 13,000 innocent nepalese and is still threatening to kill anyone who speaks against them. What made you say that the people on the street were "kathmandu elites"? -> Are you sure your saying about 'MAJORITY COUNTS'? Please restate this sentence once again so that I can answer to you next time.

Taklu said, "Now I know some people will say why did M-badis run from power when they had it all. For them I give one example - If a CEO of a company cannot fire a watchman who is going against the company policies - then what CEO is he?" Then why does the CEO want to get back again? What has changed since?

We can discuss all day long about the politics of Nepal but we wont come to a mutual point. One thing I know for sure, Makune should resign as soon as possible.I am not in favor of Maoist or any political parties but Makune is nothing more than a mockery. Why should he resign? - he hasn't done anything to bring the opposition party to the table except calling them for talks. when you lead the govt, ya r supposed to bring the agitating party to the table by hook or crook. - this is very important period for Nepal. If the govt fails to create the suitable environment to draft the constitution, alternative should be sought ASAP. - he doesnot have full support from his own party. cadres are divided among themselves. - clashes between maoist and UML is on rise. - Nepal spent millions for the election so what is the whole point of election if a person who lost from 2 places can be a PM?i know people argue he was brought to CA assembly but the thing is being a member of CA assembly is different than being a PM. For example, nobody will say anything if a professor help me to pass the class by considering all the efforts i put on that class eventhough i failed the test but it wont be acceptable if he gives me the highest grade in the class just because i worked hard. Performance is expected to lead a country. How pitiful it can be when sb claims himself a PM and he has freaking lost from 2 places?
