As far as i know Cathay Flights through HKG do not require any visas for Nepalese. I Went to Nepal last summer through the same route and i had transit for 10 hours in HKG. Absolutely no problem. A little research in Cathay Pacific's website should tell you visas not required. I had dragon air from Hkg to Ktm if its any different.
also see this at dragon air's website:
Happy Travelling

Thanks Max. I have only been recently aware one does not require a visa when travelling through Cathay Flights or through Dragon Air. However, My problem is I am transferring to Nepal airlines from Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong on my 2nd leg towards Kathmandu since I did not want to stop over in Dhaka for an hour.
Apparently, they have different rules for non- Cathay Pacific fliers of Nepali Passport holder, and require a visa even when remaining inside the terminal.
There in the trouble lies, my friend.
Thank you though :). Happy holidays.

Eyefuson ji, No need to worry about visa in HK. But, I strongly suggest that you should fly Dragon [great service, on time flight] rather than Nepal Airlines [Personally, I would not fly Nepal Airlines even they provide me free ticket]. I don't know how much you paid for Cathy+Nepal Airlines, but I just booked $1,237 (Economy "K" class, Cathy+Dragon) and I'm going to upgrade it to Business Class like I did last February. 'K' class has flexible departure/arrival dates so you can adjust your travel dates as you want. I'm frequent flyer with Cathy and this time I plan to go to Nepal in March 6th. No, you don't have to stop-over with Dragon in Dhaka (I have never done it before, may be it was my good luck). I advise you to apply for 'Asia Miles' membership (at www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_INTL/homepage) so that you will be eligible to get other extra facilities. If you haven't booked your ticket yet, then provide your membership number to your travel agent or you can turn-in at the check-in desk before you depart. Eyefuson ji, do you know what is maximum months or days a US Green Holder can stay outside of US? I just heard that USCIS is modifying GC holder's maximum stay out of US from 6 to 3 months. I like to verify if this is true. Eyefusion ji, what is your departure/arrival date? Have a great flight to Nepal.... ...!

plhearts, Smart move on your part for getting the K class flexible ticket. I'll definitely heed to you advice for my next travel. You got a great fare from Cathay Pacific than me, though I suspect some of it probably has to do with travel date. I booked the flight myself online, and found out that flying the month of December is a little higher than from mid January onwards. But I didn't pay outrageously high , about $250 more than you. But this ticket will cost me a lot more if I have to change the travel date due to HKG visa issue.
You said not to worry about visa in Hong Kong. Can you elaborate more on that? Because this is precisely my worry as I may not be allowed to board Cathay Pacific plane here in New York if I failed to produce Hong Kong transit visa. I am wondering If you , or anyone you know had such experience prior?
P.S: Asia Miles membership is also another smart move.I also signed up for it the day I bought the ticket.
cheers!

plheartsji,As for your inquiry, I do not know with certainty about the USCIS requirement. I will be departing on Dec 30 ( provided I do not have to change my travel date)and returning on 25th of match.
