Can Rafael Nadal defend his Title again? He has not lost a single set yet. Or will Roger Federer get his share this time. Without the French Open Title, his journey looks so incomplete. How about the new sensational Novak Djokovic?
Men Semifinal
1. R. Federer (1) vs G. Monfils
2. R. Nadal (2) vs N. Djokovic (3)
Women Semifinal
1. D. Safina (13) vs S. Kuznetsova (4) (All Russian Game)
2. J. Jankovic (3) vs A Ivanovic (2) (All Serbian Game)
Hey Samsara, Thanks bro..Yupp All is well with me!! Sticking to my normal monotonous daily routine. I guess you're rocking aswell now that the weekend is here.
Yeah, the Celts somehow beat Lakers yesterday but they had to fight real hard to get a victory at their own Garden. Life's gonna change for the Celtics and the tide will change direction in LA's favor come 2nd game. BTW, did you watch the Red Sox - Rays brawl yesterday? I haven't seen something like that since the Knicks-Nuggets last year.
OysChill bro, I also think that Roger Federer has already proved to be the best ever to play the game. All I wanted to say is that, if Federer wins the game this Sunday morning, he will silence the majority of his doubters.
Labastaro bro, I think it's Sunday at 8CT. Happy watching!
Ana Ivanovic wins the Women's Singles beating Dinara Safina 6-4, 6-3. The game was worth every minute of sleep I sacrificed and was a lot closer than what the Final Score read. Can't wait for tommorrow game!!
The match looks so one sided so far. Roger Federer looks fatigue and tired. Wanted to watch a close match. Lets see how will it go as the match progress...
what an emphatic win for rafa! literally crushed the grass court king into pieces hahaha. for the first time i am getting this feeling that as long as rafa is in the draw, it's impossible for fed to win the french open.
camo bro! i lose happily. drink as much as you can/need hahaha..
fed could have played the first set much better (12 freaking unforced errors is just one too many at that level to begin with). credits to rafa though. what passing shots! fed played the second set much better getting an early break but once rafa broke back and broke fed again, it was rafa all the way through. third set was just a formality. hahaha...6-0? hadn't read that sorta score line for fed yet. phew
eyes on wimbledon now. although grass court is a completely different story for both, i won't be surprised if rafa wins it this time.
here's what the legend bjorn borg thinks about rafa's chances in the wimbledon '08 (this was right after '07 wimbledon final):
it was an embarrsing defeat for federer. i really wanted him to win this tournament. i am not sure if he gonna do it ever. it looks like federer has already reached his peak. this year wimbledon is gonna be fun. it wont be easier for federer this time around. it was very close last year as well between the two top seeds. hope fedefer wins remaining grandslam of this year to tie total of 14 with pete.
This was the most lop sided grand-slam final I have ever seen since the US Open 2004 Finals in which Federer himself beat Hewitt 6-0, 7-6, 6-0. Sadly this time, Federer was in the receiving end as he got trounced by Nadal in under two hours with the former winning just four games. Loote bro, I have also begun to think that Federer's window of completing a career GrandSlam has closed unless ofcourse Nadal becomes injury ridden before the tournament in Paris next year.
However though, it's undeniable that Roger Federer has been the 2nd best player in clay court over the last three years, only behind Rafael Nadal. (A maestro who can establish himself or is already the best ever to play in clay). This guy Nadal has just been so good this year at Roland Garros and I was hysterically laughing towards the end of the match when the commentator satired,"If Nadal '07 were to play Nadal '08 in the French Open Finals.....maybe Nadal '07 would have won a set"......hahahaha
I would not be surprised if Nadal beats Federer to take the Wimbledon this year. But for that to happen Nadal(2nd seed) has to get himself through to the finals by beating Serbian Djokovic (3rd seed), which might actually be a tougher task.
. An unexpected finale, especially when two most-talked-about players competing against each other! A disappointing match-display by Federer (he only knows what was going through his mind) and a commendable effort by the lefty once again! Hope he continues to do so on other surfaces too.
As Loote Puppy pointed out, too many unforced errors in the first set by Federer. Nevertheless, it was worth watching him making some good winners in the second set!
Hopefully the Wimbeldon will bring some nail-biting matches! :-)
flips, i was rooting for fed this time. just for a change. i will root for rafa in wimbledon. for a change again haha...
if there is anything i hate in sports, it's monotonicity and predictability. have always rooted for underdogs be it pakis against aussies, giants against patriots, celtics against lakers and now rafa against fed in wimbledon :D :P. i like surprises coz that is exactly what life is about, no?
btw, it's good that tennis world got rafa. it's good for fed too, he has something really challenging to prove to the critiques. no one else was able to give him a good match until the spanish came into the picture.
oys i hope you watched the game... now you will have similar story to tell to your kids like I do now ;) I tell them how great Lendl was and his remarkable 8 grand slam titles but never could win the French Title. They can't believe when I tell them how Lendl used to own John "you can not be serious" McEnroe :p
15-20 years down the road new kid (Agassi jr???) will win 15th grand slam titles and we will regard Federer like Lendl and Sampras, great players w/o French Open :=)
AX, Lendl never won the Wimbledon. He however won 3 French Opens. I remember the late 80s when tennis lessons around the Valley was in vogue for lil kids and his style of power-tennis (hard-hitting games) was often talked about by the seniors.
Modern tennis owes a lot to this great player who has been emulated by all from Sampras to Federer.
Samsara, Thanks for the correction :=) He won 3 french title but never won on the grass. Becuase of his hard-hitting game, they called it hitting hot. Federer, Sampras and Lendl will be regarded as the great players who couldn't win all 4 slams :=) He is truly The Father of Modern Tennis.
