we dont need any losers here. I am glad its over. I worked hard myr whole life to get into this country. How i can accept the fact that someone who dont have anything but some so called freaking luck to have the same life that I have. damn its over.

It hasn't been discussed in Senate yet. There is still hope that Senate will bring its own version of integrated immigration reform bill. The director of USCIS is an immigrant himself. Let's see if anything comes out to be good for aspiring immigrants.

Although I don't agree with Notebook's view on terminating DV lottery, I was more interested in extra H1B quota of 30K and proposed 90K immigrant visa without counting family members.

Why should we be jealous about somebody's luck? I guess Notebook never filled out any DV form (if he did, his comments on DV lottery are void). By luck or by hardwork if somebody gets and opportunity that will be good.

In the same note, have you ever bought any lottery ticket? Why some freaking lucky fellas get millions of dollars overnight while you are working hard to save a few thousand dollars every month? It isn't fair. Damn, eliminate all lotteries.

I don't agree completely with Notebook but they should have some ways to filter out the DV winners. Like some people from the middle east, even after they live here for decades their view towards America is hostile. Anyone who loves America after winning the lottery is welcome.

There is really no point to be jealous with DV winners. At least Nepalese are getting it.It would have been great whom are in real need of it...specially one who got educated here and in need of a legal way to satrt work here. But its matter of luck.....at least Nepalese got benefit of it. Increase in H1 may not benefit nepalese directly as it opens access for a lot of Indians who come to US in large numbers each year under H1.

Is it over for everyone or its over for just for people who are not already in the US.

Is it also over for ppl living without leagal status in the US. How can it be..it's a rumor I guess ..it's unfair.

while I applaud your enthusiam in believing that a fellow immigrant will not turn around and crucify the rest of his/her immigrant brethren let's not forget that the madness that is the Patriot Act which gave rise to much of the far right crap claiming that the borders need to be sealed was written by none other than an immigrant. Viet Din the architect of the Patriot Act is a first generation Vietnamese refugee. John Yoo the counsel who has unabashadley advocated and in fact created legal arguments to justify the indefinite detention of immigrants and those suspected of terror activities is a Chinese American and Alberto Gonzales another right wing nut job is also an immigrant or the son of immigrants....apparently, the immigrant kinship is sorely missing in the Republican Party.

The signs as of now is that the Senate is NOT going to pass the bill in the same form that it was passed by the House which hopefully means that the Senators will leave the D.V lottery program but may reduce the numbers of visa's that can be granted to every country. I will make sure I post updates on this as I become aware of them. The tough part is that this is an electio year so they may feel pressured to seem like they are protecting the borders and that likely means that some major provisions like the number of H1 (B) visas, the ability to somewhat easily change status from one visa to the next and so forth will be changed for the worse..keep your eyes out for more updates.
