Urging everyone who read this thread to keep it alive for the sake of peace in nepal. I know there was a posting by someone named KALIG that they are doing protest rally against the nepali kings feb 1st action against the corrupted and incomponent and uneducated so called politicans of nepal, who didn't do anything for more than 8 yrs to queal the insurgency in nepal by the maoist even when they had their chance, but who didn't stop pulling eachothers leg and didn't stop taking bribes and selling nepal's properties to INDIA. I urge all Nepalis and all Nepal lovers to attend this support rally for the shake of peace and stability of nepal at the following place in DC. Lafayette Park (Located on Pennsylvania Avenue, across from the White House) Metro: Farragut West time 12:00 noon Organized by..... just nepali who loves nepal and wants to see peace prevail before democracy fails. p.s. the link for the protest rally that was posted in sajha, http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=19841

A friend of mine said this about King G's move "King Gyanendra might have won a battle, but he won't win the war" Absolute truth. And I feel that our situation is like that of an old joke. The prisioners at a cell somewhere in Europe were bitching about the itching underwear they were wearing for past 14 months. They were saying only the warden are getting new underwear, etc. etc. The Cell manager finally decides to help the prisioners and gives them the underwears they were wearing 14 months before, still unwashed. Prisioners are excited that they are getting new underwear, but only time will make them realize that what they would be wearing would be the 14 year old underwear, the ones they were wearing for 30 months before..... adios......

Mailaadai seems that he is a great supporter of corruption and anarchy. Seems like he has something to lose or he is so stubborn that doesn't realize sometimes change in focus and activity are necessary for the greater good.... Dude give King G a chance , he is the only hope for Nepal...if he succeeds it is great news...if he doesn't then he is out...and it will return to quagmire it was..... Nothing to lose...so support him and lets go from there...nothing to lose....bro

Dude...what voice....does anyone talk against the Maoist...did you ever raise your voice to stop the Maoist from killing ,pillaging and extorting money?.You damn Scared aren?t you? Only reason people talk against the king is they know , if King is too heavy handed his regime will not survive? So choice is support him and see what he can do ?or let the corrupt leaders eat the country from inside out and let the Maoist roam with out anyone to check on their activities... What choice do people in Nepal have?.The great democratic leaders of Nepal (ha ha) or King, or Maoist... Pick one of the lesser evils dude....

Good idea....I truely think that there are far more Nepalis who support King than the ones who don't. I am too far from East Coast, there is no way for me to be able to attend the protest. But would appreciate if everyone in that area could show up...This will be one of the biggest contribution any Nepali can make to his/her motherland. Since the international community is being so critical of King's move and corrupt-politicians allies doing the protest will only make King's move look even worse. Every Nepali knows what King did was necessary not out of his choice. PLEASEEEE GO RAISE YOUR VOICE .....EVERY VOICE COUNTS..EVERY SUPPORT MATTERS.....EVERY ACTION WILL HELP NEPAL AT THIS URGENT TIME OF NEED. LETS STAND UNITED BEHIND OUR KING AND OUR COUNTRY!! Nepali

MCR7 dude I pick the people. pure and simple. what do you know of me that you say i haven't spoken against the maobaadi? now, that may have not achieved in terms of affecting the maobaadi themselves but that's another story. i have voiced. and a thousand voices will bring the change. and yes, i am scared of the maobaadi. i am scared of their guns. yes, i am. but i am equally if not more, scared of the king's autocratic rule. the only reason people talk against the king, now and here, is because they can. they can't otherwise, they get arrested. the choice is not to give him free reign and see what he can do? haven't you had enough already? the choice is to take the matters into our hands now. our hands. the people's hands. and you say the politicians let the maobaadi roam around destructing everything. what about the king? is kathmandu all of nepal? what can he do to save the rest of nepal? you tell me. why should i have hope on him? why?

All kings have taken enough time to make Nepal a developed peaceful country... now we are the poorest in the world. The kings had 200-300 years to their credit for the effort. And mind you, just about 50 years back, Nepal was not that backward compared to the others as we are now. Now you guys are talking about giving King Gyanendra a chance. First of all we don't have to ask him for that; he grabs it like a storm. Second of all, he was having the chance before too. What has he done in the last three-four years? Nothing but craved towards more power. In other words, in the name of Maoists the king has started another loot! LET ME TELL YOU GUYS: IF ANYONE MAKES NEPAL A RICH PEACEFUL ONE, IT WON"T BE THE KING. The king will enjoy the full benefit of the nation's prosperity if it ever comes to Nepal, though... only big time! It will be a simple, honest Nepali who will, if ever, put the country in the right track.. not a king, by all means! These protests, counter-protests etc. will make sense if you are doing that in Nepal. Otherwise it is as good as what I do now in sajha.. just talking!

Listen dudes Nepal is on verge of civil war or peace...either way King is the only hope... So if you support civil war.....don' t give the King a chance..hope he fails and nettas and maoist are back in power.... ..if you support aleast giving the King a chance to do what no other leader has been capable of in last 10 years then ....wait and see what he is capable of doing....the results may still be civil war or it may be peace...right now it is the only hope people in Nepal really have..... Peace out dudes....

so, let's not take it there. let's not take it there. i have also seen many countries in africa. and, while i do believe we haven't reached the point of no return, i will not shrink from saying that we are in a civil war.

what is the one lesson we can learn from afganistan? is it not that feudal lords and local chieftains can't do shit for people? is not that we, the people, cannot let strong men take over us and decide OUR fate?

go reserve a coffin the size of nepal. is democracy just the leaders you mention? what about the people? where are the people in your equation? those leaders were/became mere strong men too. reality is that the king is not a hope. how is he the hope? what magic does he have? only the people is the hope
