Hoina yo GBNC ke garirakheko ? Asssti Nai election sakkisakeko hoina ra ? Ki assti saaabaijana suuuti-rakheko thiyo ki Kya ho ? Can't the freakin people even hold an election on a proper date ? And why is it that there are no people running for office in GBNC ? The so called Board of directors are all asleep or what ? Are these Morons even thinking about how to make our community better or are they all there for their own selfish reasons ? NOW ONCE AGAIN WHY IS GBNC NOT A REGISTERED SOCIAL ORGANIZATION(So we can be TAX Sheltered) ? If you keep up with these antics pretty soon nobody is going to come to any of your events. We have a pretty sizable Nepali community here in greater Boston. And most of the time not even a quarter of these people show up at any GBNC events. I would like to know what efforts have these folks amde to bring OUR NEPALI community togather ? This Bahihalcha NI, Calihalcha Ni attitute needs to go. If you look at our chimaakeys(Indians), they have even managed to have representitives in congress. And look at us....You tell me.

Everytime someone asks these questions, the committee gets all defensive. The question that these execs. should be asking is how can we better manage or organize our community instead to single out anyone who wishes to criticize the comittee. My point is it should not even get to this point. If you guys were doing such a superb job, I would not even be here questioning anything would I ? I am not walking around with any TITTLE, as a concerned member of the community I am just asking a question.. Can we at least do that withou being trampled upon ? Besides before you even invite anyone to join the comittee, let us see the transparency of the organization. The whole process of decision making( like who actually has the authority). And you still have not answered my question,"Why GBNC is not a registered social organization ?" And talking about responsibility Shirish the smarty pants I AM ASKING SOME QUESTIONS AND LOOKING FOR SOME ANSWERS. As a contributing member, can I have a right to question the authorities in this democratic society ? Or like Nepali politicians ...are you going to supress me.

Damodar If you are that concerned why dont you take the responsibilty and register the GBNC as an ligimate organization? Who is stopping you from doing that? Its not an organization that you have to inhertate! They (I mean the executive committee) did not does not mean you should not do either! I know you can but at the same time don't want to do!! C'mon Damodar show them what you are made of!!! Don't just be a jaw bone that talks only and does not do anything substantial. You have seen and experienced now that they are not going to do what you wanted to them to do. There lies a chance for you to show that you are made up of something and as a member of the community I would like to see you doing something.

Hey Shirish, You must be blind as a bat. I said I am a contributing member(have contributed for Phone directories, funerals, functions etc etc). Nobody is stoping me from doing anything Mr Oxymoron, I am not inheriting nor am i running for any tittle. And I don't have to show or prove you anything( as far as what i have done for GBNC in the past). Yeah why don't I run for a position in GBNC and let these SITTING DUCKS dictate how I should run the organization. Instead why don't you SHIRISH become their walking cane and Chug along at snail speed.

I am actually clinically blind but my hearing senses are OK. You did not get my point on registering GBNC as Tax -Exempt organization. GBNC is supposed to be a social organization run by volunteers not a charity organization. Bujhyo bro. Register nabhani kehi bigriya chaina. Kamm chali rakhekai cha. It would have been nice if GBNC has some legal status, as you have said. Whats wrong if it is not? There might be some gliches here and there but it did not stop it from doing what it has been doing so far. Every year the Volunteers (like you sometimes) doing something extra and you know its not easy! Now LISTEN, my point is, when GBNC has no problem having a CONTRIBUTING members like you, why dont you contribute some of your time in registering the GBNC and work toward the non exempt status. Just tell me you can ? or can not ? instead of complaining and arguing with OXYMORON like me. I know you can but simply wont ! Right Damodar Kayastha ?

GBNC a Social Organization rey ? Are you out of your mind ? Yeah tell me again OXYMORON register nagarey pani kehi bigriya chaina rey ! So you want your community to stay broke forever then(talking like a true Nepali politician). Without legal status, you will never get Tax Shelter, or any legitimate accoutability. Which means shit happens, legally we cannot claim anything. And to help those Bros in Indian Restaurents .....yeah you would carry a ton of weight as an organization. There are quite a few Nepali entrepreneurs in our community now who could help us financially esp to those in need from the Tax shelter org. Hoina Bhaihalchani Bhaney Bhaihalchani ... why not. What can I tell a bunch of idiots who want to stay the same instead of bettering theirs and their community's lives. So long sucker !!! i am not wasting anymore of my time in this PARROT conversation. Keep repeating like a broken record. I said my peice. I rest my case

See I told you. You CAN only TALK not willing to act and help other Nepalese. You could not that challenge of taking some responsibilty to register organization. Khali halla garera matra kaha huncha..nepali politician ko justo! teti nai furti garne ho bhaye la dekhaoonus, register garera and there after...and I tell you, registering INC is not that difficult and cheap too, hardly 40$. How people can complain but when it comes to do something, they shift the responsibilty and rest on others. testo Damodar le kurai naoothunu ni baru! I think its wrong of you to under-estimate those who work at the Indian Restaurents. Whats so wrong working there? I see most of them do find ways for betterment. You've seen a bunch of idiots (in your words) with GBNC why don't you start making it an intelligent well oiled, well- managed organization. I dont want the community to stay stagnant (actually it is making a gradual progress with new and innovative ideas) and people like you wont take it to another level either. Kaam garera dekhaune mauka cha...mauka ko upayog garnu hola...GBNC ko teti nai maya cha bhane Damodar Ji !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damodar I suspect you wont reply so here is my last request for you. "GET into the GBNC executive committee and prove your worth and take the organization to the next level." GBNC will be happy to have "concerned" people like you when they have scarcity of people to volunteer. If not, I consider you, as just another "chatter" not "doer".

Hey Damodar- C'mon man!! GBNC needs people like you. Don't prove them folks you are just another "chatter" not "doers.... I will specially request our GBNC President to hold the banner welcoming you on the party :-). You have my full support. Don't prove me wrong man, otherwise you will just be another smart ass who often come here and just complain....but no action. We all can talk or point fingers but not many of us are ready to act... Shris is right, why are you putting our Nepali friends who work on food industries down. I don't think they have asked you or anyone for any help regarding their situation. Have they? if yes, then it is perfect opportunity for you to join GBNC and work on their behalf.. Got it?????

Dear friends, The GBNC Executive Committee hears your concerns, criticisms, praises and suggestions. We appreciate your valuable input. Without our member's thoughts, the organization would be nowhere. I would like to answer Damodar ji's question on GBNC's NPO registration. I have been involved in GBNC for the last three years. This has been on GBNC's agenda every year. I believe the committee has attempted to register GBNC since 1997-98 (if I am not wrong). The process was initiated and left incomplete. From what I understand, certain tax documents have to be filed quarterly. For reasons that I don't know (as I wasn't in Boston at that time), the documents weren't always filed. Because of this, the process never got completed. During Bik dai's term, Pradeep's term and my term, we have attempted to complete this process. Bishundev Mahato, our executive member, personally spend hours trying to figure this out. Yet there were many legal issues that we had to sort. We just have not been able to handle all the issues due to the lack of time, knowledge and finances. Instead of focusing on this registration, GBNC has focused on bringing you interesting programs. I don't want to get into the discussion of our new programs. Many of us have already debated that in another thread. Trust me Damodhar ji, many friends have spent countless hours for GBNC that all of us should appreciate. Damodar ji, we encourage conscientious members like you to step up. Elections are being held this Sunday. If you think GBNC should be registered, please make that your agenda. We need concerns citizens like you to help the Boston Nepali Community. Thank you. Prasanna Dhungel GBNC President 2003-2004

Prasanna Thanks for your insight. Damodar, I know you are reading this and made up your mind to become one of the executive members to make a difference for the sake of all the Nepalese. Let me give you few advices: # There will be lots of people who would just "chat" but does not deliver and runs away when times come to step in. ( I am included). # If you manage to organize some programs, rarely you will get some appreciation and if you screw up (as I guess you are not a professional "EVENT ORGANIZER"), you know the consequences. # Remember, you are volunteering, you are not getting paid for it and you can only devote certain amount of time out of your regular schedules. You know how much time it takes to organize even a small event. If you are planning to run like a corporate, forget about it. Don't aim too high. # You won't be approached by any other Nepali for any creative work, you will have to come up on your own. Neither, will they offer you any help unless you have really good friends. If you break it, you own it. # The REST of Nepalese around the area think or perceive GBNC, equivalent to the executive committe. So you will become GBNC, not executive committee of GBNC. They do not think you as a representative of theirs so you are on your own. They might even think you have surplus time to do those activities # Its better to have a team for you rather than putting lots of effort alone even though you are smart and capable of bringing out lots of changes.... # You will come to know about the "timing factor" so don't expect to accomodate all the population in one single event. You will have difficulty estimating people so have alternative plans also. # Expect some competition, as population of Nepalese in the area are growing and people with various ideas and interests emerging. This is emminent so don't be threatened or intimitated for the existence of GBNC. GBNC will exist whether it is a legal oragnization or not and you are going to try to make it a legal entity. Make sure you know the future responsibilities that comes with. # Try to make GBNC as an umbrella organization but organize events like "Sports", which was a huge success. Don't worry about the Dashain or momo party. Let people do that at home or let some one else do it. They don't fancy anyone anymore. # IF you have too many agendas, probably you will fail so concentrate ! My sincere advice, just follow some of the trends and add some new. You should be set. Good Luck and more later.

Til _kumar_ ing He he I was just trying to make a point that, people have put efforts and continued to work within their limits for the sake of the interest, strength and cohesiveness community. They need to be commended for such thankless tasks. I think the majority of the community members also to be blamed for not telling what they want and more over, their lack of enthusiasm to strengthen more. We may need to take models from Indians, Ukranians or Haitians. See the example of people like Damodar...ago salkayera bhagyo. But I am optimistic that there will be people who will take the GBNC to another level.

Dear all, Aja malaai lao lamo threads pai oadhne jangar chalyo. Ani yaso hereko k ... It reminded me the following proverb: Pls note that: I have no any personal relation with GBNC.
