Have a look at the wrapper on a Coca-Cola 1.5 liter bottle and in the ingredients label you will find phosphoric acid in it. Minute quantities of ethylene glycol are also used (which is acknowledged in the soft drink world for making it really chill). This is popularly known as anti-freeze which prevents water from freezing at 0 deg C and instead drops it 4-5 degrees with minute quantities. This chemical is a known slow poison in the caliber of arsenic. So, if you manage to drink about 4 liters of Coke within an hour or so, you can die. Read along and give up these dangerous things. Be natural; have flavored milks, tender coconuts, buttermilk, lassi and plain water instead of these "soft" drinks. Guess what's the pH for soft drinks, e.g. Coke? PH 3.4! This acid ity is strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones! Our human body stops building bones at the age of about 30. Softdrinks do not have any nutrition value (in terms of vitamins & minerals). It is high in sugar content, carbonic acid, chemicals i.e. colorings etc. Some like to take cold soft drinks after each meal. Guess what's the impact? Our body needs an optimum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius for digestive enzyme functioning. The temperature of cold soft drinks is very much below 37 degrees or even close to 0 degrees Celsius. This will dilute the enzymes & stress the digestive system. The food taken will not be digested. In fact it will be fermented! The fermented food produces gases, decays and becomes toxin, gets absorbed by the intestine, circulates in the blood stream and is carried to the whole body. Hence toxin is cumulated in other parts of the body, developing into various diseases. Think before you drink coke/Pepsi (or any soft drink) again. Have you ever thought what you drink when you drink an aerated drink? You gulp down carbon dioxide, when nobody in the world would advise you to drink CO2. Two months back, there was a competition at Delhi University "Who could drink the most Coke?" The winner drank 8 bottles and fainted on the spot-too much CO2 in the blood. Thereafter, the principal banned all soft drinks from the college canteen! While this might have been an extreme measure, their results do provide some food for thought. Did you know that soft drinks use chemicals in them that cause immense harm to you. Someone put a broken tooth in a bottle of Pepsi and in 10 days it DISSOLVED! Can you believe it? Teeth and bones are the only human parts that stay intact for years after death. Imagine what the drink must be doing to your soft intestines and stomach lining!

Drinks with Carbonated water are crazy. I have always loved drinking coke and I know it is so addicted but lately I have been ignoring it. There was time in my life where whenever I used to feel thristy I used to drink coke!! My thrist wouldn't be satisfied without that coke..it was crazy..As a result I gained some uneccessary weight and losing it was no easy work..Anyway I treat myself sometimes with Diet although it is not completely good... * I swtiched to gatorade, which has around 50 cals compared to around 240 that coke has.. *Drink water...although I use restroom more frequently..cuz of that

Coke is high in sugar, caffine, phosphoric acid which is believed to cause bone disease, colon cancer etc. I heard a year ago that if a woman drinks a soft drink everyday for 2 years she can't become pregnant!! Whether it's true or not, there's something alarming. Why take a risk? It's okay to have it every now and then but if u drink everyday then it's very addicting and is a big health hazard!! Here is an excerpts I found: "What are the effects of drinking sugar-laden drinks on health? Researchers from the Childrenýs Hospital, Boston and the Harvard School of Public Health (The Lancet; Feb 2001) found that the chances of a child becoming obese increased by 1.6% for each additional can of or glass of sugar-sweetened soft drink they consumed above the daily average. Those children who drank soft drinks consumed almost 200 calories more per day than their counterparts who didnýt. According to one source, teenagers consume between 500 and 1000 calories per day from sugar-sweetened drinks. These are empty calories with no nutritional value at all. Even more disturbing is the fact that the body needs nutrients like vitamins and minerals to metabolise these drinks, and will use of the bodyýs store of these nutrients to do so. This means that excessive intake of these drinks not only contributes to obesity, but also depletes the body of vital nutrients. One major hazard of consuming pop rather than other soft drinks is that phosphorous is used to make pop fizzy. The body needs and can deal with normal amounts of phosphorous in the diet, but in excess, the phosphorous competes for the same receptor sites as calcium, a mineral that is essential for healthy bones, teeth and heart. This has major implications for growing children and teenagers, who just as they need calcium for the growth and development of bones are consuming excessive amounts of pop that will deplete their bodies of the very mineral their body needs. A survey by Grace Wyshak, professor at the Harvard School of Public Health found that teenage girls who drank pop were three times more likely to break bones than those who drank other drinks were. Adolescent girls who fail to get enough calcium will not build enough bone mass; as they age their bones will become thin and fragile, and so they are at high risk for osteoporosis and broken bones. Although I didnýt see any articles on the risks of drinking pop for older women, one can assume that women who drink pop may be more at risk for developing osteoporosis. So far osteoporosis has not been identified as a major health hazard for men. However, as increasing numbers of young men who are heavy consumers of pop reach adulthood, it will be interesting to see if more men develop osteoporosis. Low calorie drinks flavored with artificial sweeteners are, in some way even more of a health hazard than regular soft drinks. The body reacts to these sweeteners as if they were sugar triggering a cascade of hormonal responses, particularly insulin. Excess amounts of insulin are associated with the development of a variety of diseases, including adult onset diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, certain cancers and heart disease among others. Eliminating soft drinks of all kind is one step in the prevention of these illnesses. However, we also need to eat healthy foods that will maintain health and prevent illness."

honeybuzz, accept the fact that you gotta die one day. :P If softdrinks are killing you, then the only option left for you is water, like Sitara hazur said. But hey, water is also dangerous. You might get over- hydrated that could cause dizziness and respiratory distress. urghhh!! And what about a bottled water? Remember PURE DASANI water marketed by cocacola and the recent issue that hit the news? It contains some cancer causing chemicals re. eh. So everything is KILLING you softly ;), accept that you will die one day!! Eat and drink whatever you can and die without regret!! :D:D:D

YOU CAN THINK YOURSELF WELL so I believe my inner conscience at first then after give eyes to the what has research shown like about soft drink good or bad for health. Normally,i am get used to drink 1.5 litres of coke a day. Actually, i am not much so good in science but what i believe that after playing half an hour badminton everyday, the harmful chemical excreates from my body in form of sweating ; ). Next, about existing big obesity problem either in USA and UK, i believe that people dont have enough exercise to balance their physical fitness so i dont much agree to point the low quality food of Mac, KFC etc. I believe eveything in BALANCE either in your life or in your drink/food habit. Cheers!!!

Don't talk like fools guys. You can't point at a 80 yr. old guy who smokes everyday and say that he is still alive. There's a whole new discipline of Risk Assessment which have hundreds of PhD's working their brains out to find the cause and effects of these environmental hazards including things we drink and eat everyday. Results get published and we hear them in different forms- newspaper, medical literature, TV, magazines, Radios etc. If these studies are supported by data and more important facts, try to accept them and don't say live happily and die happily. If you ignore these and just go about doing whatever you feel like, then your death might not occur so happily. Remember we are talking about Chronic (long-term) effects, and it might take 30, 40 or even more years to show up.
