Can TPS holder file for asylum? For someone who has never filed for asylum. I will really appreciate if you could share your first hand experience.

yes TPS holder can file for asylum, infact TPS is just a temporary status. As Asylum processes is getting harder these days, but if you think your case is strong enough and if you can provide strong documentation than you can. However, there are few things to consider so consulting subject matter expert or lawyer I think would be best!
As for your question, yes TPS holder can apply for Asylum!

If I am not mistaken, you need to file for asylum within 1 year you enter the United States. While exceptions can be made if filing after more than a year, you need to have a really strong explanation on why you waited for so long before filing for asylum.
