sprint! single user, 500 minutes, sprint to sprint/nextel free, 7pm to 9am free calls within us, weekends free, unlimited texting, mail, internet, gps free, free roaming as well, no charges/reduction in minutes for incoming int'l calls and i pay 30 bucks a month. however, i was grandfathered in their employee referral plan 2 yrs ago. now they've changed it. still worth it if there are two users for a single plan.

Depends where you are right now.In some state Sprint sucks ass so be careful before you purchase as you will be stuck with 2 years contract.Verizon is very good throughout the states if you are looking for quality but if you are concerned more about price will need more info about which State/City you reside before anyone can provide you with better advices.

Cheapest GSM is $3/month @ $18 for 90 days but it actually works for 6 months if you save minutes (120minutes +20 bonus minutes) Comes with a free reconditioned set, local rate to Mexico, Canada, Europe etc and also Bangladesh, NO Nepal. Free incoming text, outgoing 4 cents/SMS. This is a Tracfone deal with Motorola V170 at tracfone.com. Google for free shipping and other discount codes or get it for around $22). Family plan: Sprint (CDMA) is the cheapest, but manage a couple of hours every month to call customer service and argue over extra charge in your bill. Never used, but virgin mobile has some good schemes for individual users.

I have heard a great deal of positive reviews regarding Metro Pcs. People say that it is very cheap ( eg. about $30/month), no contract, and unlimited calls. But the major problem with it is that the connection is not sound, especially in the bay area ( san francisco, Oakland, San Jose).
