Again, we create another thread of ' Never seen before Nepali Beauty' and post innocent nepali girls picture and starts making abusive comments... treating as if these girls were in bad profession...  this thread is one of most viewed in sajha.

Yes they uploaded the pic, but NOT for the WORLD to see. There is a term called 'Online Privacy'. it seems to be relatively new (almost non-existent) around here.

Lemme give you an example iamunknown. Just by your nick, you are unknown, and sure enough we in sajha don't know who you are. But what happens if someone you personally know has a grudge against you and spills your name out on sajha for everyone to see? ESPECIALLY if you've been involved in shady threads thinking your anonymity will save you.

Since you seem to be taking words a bit too literally here's my rebuttal at your s :) don't mind :

"The extent of their privacy is only a google search away". Not really. Files stored on servers (mostly running linux) have access permissions to read, write and execute. Whether it be facebook, hi5, orkut or whichever site. Deep down inside the files that are stored on the server have specific rules for who can access them. Just because you upload a file on the 'internet' does NOT mean that the remaining 6 billion people can freely access it. AND IT DEFINITELY DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU UPLOADED THT FILE TO SHARE IT WITH THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD.

Take flickr for example. They let you choose who you want to show your pictures to: friends, family, friends AND family, or TO THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. And even when you have the option to show to the WHOLE WIDE WORLD, even then you have licensing attributes.


Google spiderbots dont go where they are not allowed. You can script your .htaccess file to keep these buggers out so that google wont even be aware that some file exists. Google != omnipotent.


Since at the time of your pictures your claim was that these pictures were from hi5,fb it was a matter of concern because of people like you, I wont be able to see how my girl friend spent her week in Hawaii.

But you've corrected yourself and told us that the whole hi5,fb was a lie (why would you wanna lie abt something like this?) I guess its not much of an issue if these beautiful women wanted to be admired by the WHOLE WIDE WORLD OF SAJHA.

Lastly, just because FB owns the pictures uploaded to it, does not by any length give YOU the authority to distribute what is theirs, unless you are related to Mark Zuckerburg.

I don't think ANS was questioning the legality of the issue, but the morality of the issue. I think he's talking about the unethical nature and double standards of some sajha posters in the way they view and discuss women.

All the long winded argument from NAS does not authorize him to legally display these pictures on this website. By accepting the terms and conditions, the users of facebook or Hi5 may have given the rights to these website to use these pictures for marketing and other purposes. But if facebook or Hi5 were to use these fictures inappropritely (say creating a suggestive or porno website), their sorry asses will be in jail in no time. In any case they may have granted the right to use their picture and content to facebook or Hi5, certainly not to NAS or anyone else.

This website is used by a close group of people so we can get away with such stuff, but if this were a hugely popular (I mean  general pupulation, not just Nepali community) website, you would be asking for a lot of trouble. At the bare minimum it is a copyright violation if you do not cite the source of the picture.

So argue all you can NAS, you may still not be on sound legal ground. Talking about the morality of the issue, it is a creative at best (in a crooked sense) to assume that just because someone posted a picture on the web for their inner circle of friend, they want it to be splashed all over.

On the ligher side, some of the picture are gorgeous and I sure enjoy seeing those. As Dekchi Bro said, argue as much as we want to, we are still peeping Toms.
