ceremonial or limited monarchy

Let’s keep our history alive:

History is the information which is made by people like us. But let us not try to make such a history that we have to lament later. May be all of you are trying to figure it out what am I talking about. I am just trying to utter about the present situation in Nepal “monarchy or republican”. I liked when Prime Minister girija pd koirala once said that everybody needs to have their own place in democracy. Saying that he was referring king must also be given certain position. This could be ceremonial king. Whoever brought this idea was an excellent thought. And I totally agree with his views. Look at our past when kingship was in Nepal excluding the reign of king gyanendra. We rarely heard about the murder and killing of people. Let’s not forget that whenever the country was in hand of traitor, our godfather was always there to save us and save our country. He loves people of Nepal; he loves us, and our country “Nepal”. When we talk about king gyanendra, people always think about the royal massacre and his business and how autocratic he was. I can prove all of these allegations are incorrect. First of all dipendras enmity was with his immediate family. And fortunately gyanendra and his family were survived out of massacre. I just want to remind you folk’s one event that recently happened in Virginia Tech University where an Asian kid shot people for his personal reasoning. If someone can go crazy like Mr. “x” then why not dipendra who was even highly intoxicated at the event.

Why do we have to worry about someone business as long as he pays taxes to the government. He is somehow giving money to the country. He is doing business like other people do. What’s wrong with that? He is at least not collecting money from the foreign aid like our greatest politician does. He is investing his own money. Now the question may arise why would we sanction budget to the palace as they are just there doing nothing. I think if Prithivi Narayn Shah were alive today, this would be a good question to him. Why do you inherit property from your parent? It’s because you are involved in everything whatever your family does at the time of good and bad situation. I don’t think any public figure has done any great effort to recognize Nepal in the world as compare to the royal. We don’t have to go far back in the royal history of Nepal, We can take examples of late king Mahendra , Tribhuwan and Birendara who always knew the people desire and always worked with people aspirations. Of course people had to fight for their right but their wants were always well recognized by the respective king during their regime.

The time was different and situation was even worse than ever after the royal massacre when Maoist was asking for republic. I believe it was hard for king Gyanendra to cope with this tragedy of the family and the nation at the same time. I salute his patience. That was the moment I saw him as a great leader who can lead the country. I remember those days now how he handled the situation in a proper manner. The country was terrorized by Maoist. The government was a total failure to tackle the situation which made the king to sack the government and take control of the nation.

After taking the government in his hand, people especially political parties and so called democratic world started observing him as an autocratic ruler. Let me ask you all a question. What would you do if someone whom you gave a responsibility pondering that he will take care of the certain task and couldn’t fulfill it? And again you will pardon him thinking that he won’t repeat it again and does the same mistake. Obviously, you will fire him and that is what king gyanendra did to the prime minister. I think he was very much liberal on this regard. He even called the political parties to nominate their eligible leaders to be prime minister. Besides that the Maoist influence was rapidly growing in the country. No matter whom he appointed prime minister was not able to tackle the Maoist problem. After all this, People can’t even think who are responsible to bring Nepal and Nepalese to present situation. They do whatever the politicians tell them. It’s not late yet; you folks need to wake up. Open your ear and listen to me Those of the corrupt politicians and Maoist who comes at first rank to diminish the image of Nepal and Nepalese king in the globe.

It’s obvious in each and every country people protest for the decision they don’t like but there is always a leader who thinks what good and bad for their country and lead the country what he thinks the better. Let us take an example; if George W Bush withdraws troops from Iraq as per the demand of democrats and senators from his own party, then what happens to the promise he made to the whole world about the counter terrorism. Any country or place one has to take a lead on serious issues like this. G W Bush was leading the world to fight terrorism at the time the whole world was terrorized. Likewise our king gyanendra was trying to put his effort from his side to wipe out the potential danger that mammoth exist once and trying to engulf the country now with hook or crook. The king knows Nepal and Nepalese better than any politicians. That is why he resides in the palace and called the king.

Now the time has changed. All the leftist and rightist became the one. They made king powerless. They didn’t even want to know the will of people of Nepal regarding the king’s role. If the monopoly of these politicians keep on continue and people of Nepal do not do anything keeping shoulder to shoulder with them, then the day will come when we not only change the history of Nepal but also take off the Nepal from the world map.

Eventually, I repeat the speech of Prime Minister Girija Pd Koirala which is the only statement I liked about him in his whole political carrier about giving space to everyone in democracy. Through this article I request all the Nepalese living in Nepal and outside of Nepal not to keep the king aside, give him some space in our history and keep the history alive.
