I did my Bachelor and Master in U.S.A and I haven't gone out of USA for last 8 Years. My Nepal passport got expired after I finished my bachelor and I didn't renew it for few months. I renewed my passport just before i joined my master degree. I completed my Master degree and now I am on H1 visa. I am planning to go to nepal in couple of months and get my H1 visa stamp. I am worried since I was in expired passport in USA for few month it might create a problem. Has anyone ran into this kind of problem?? Any suggestion to mitigate the risk?
Thanks in advance

That is not a problem at all. You can stay in USA even if your Visa expierd then why not with passport expired. As long as you have I-20 or H1B, you are legal to stay in America. No worries...........however I suggest to get stamped in Mexico or Canada, so that you can travel happily to Nepal. What do u think?

Most of the immigration and college website indicates that your Passport should always be valid. That bothers me..:(

I do not think there should be any problem. It might be a good idea to give a call to the nepali embassy and ask them whether they can help you or even better go to the university you are attending or attended and ask the people at the international office. Or you can even write an email to the US consulate's office in KTM and see what they say.
best of luck,
manjari
