this is science question, 12 mL of liquid is diluted to 51 mL with water. that 51mL has specific gravity of 1.009. what would be the specific gravity of original liquid. anybody ready to help??

sp gravity of water = 1.00 (this is the key, you have to know this, rest is easy algebra) sp gravity of liquid = x (say) (12x + 51)/(12+51) = 1.009 12x+51 = 1.009 * 63 x = 1.0472 Hope it helps
