Pashupati Shamser janga Bahadur Rana, grandson of Mohan S.J.B. Rana and legitimate descendant of Shree 3 Janga bahadur Rana, has last night with a dramatic reenactment of the 160 yr old Kot Parwa, taken the King, Queen and the prince into custody. The army chief and the royal palace army have played their role of loyalty to the rana institution for this task.

Immediately upon the cue, this morning, the life in the capital is chilly. The Shree 3 title was declared this morning to His Majesty Shree 3 Pashupati S.J.B . Rana, after a brief religious ritual in Hanumandhoka. The royal family is believed to be in good condition and are in custody in Nirmal Niwas except for New-Prince Hridyandra.

The Shree 3, as they did 160 years back, have not taken the title of shree 5 but instead declared themselves as the legitimate costodian and guardian of new-prince Shree 5 Hridayandra until he attains the age of 18.

Pashupati SJB Rana appointed Ram Prasad Neupane as the Bada Gurju. The Kumai bahuns who had previously had had a stranglehold on that position revolted vehemently by refusing to perform Sraddha(series of ceremonies performed at various times of the year and during one's lifetime as homage and salutation to one's ancestors) during the 16 days designated for that purpose which precede Nuva Ratha.

Upon being appointed Bada Gurju, Ram Prasad left his cushy IT job in Silicon Valley and headed straight back to Kathmandu hoping that Pashupati may find him a suitable match for his daughter, Devyani, who's been living a life of a recluse in Switzerland until recently.
