Koirala Urges Partymen to Back Constitutional Monarchy

Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala today came down heavily on all those who are baying for a republican order in the run up to the general convention of the party which is scheduled to be held through August 30-September 2 in the capital.
"I?m in favour of rendering the people as fully sovereign while the supremacy of the parliament is also established without exception. Those who are baying for tantra (a reference to ganatantra (republican order) should follow mantra (a reference to constitutional monarchy," Koirala said at a book launching function in the capital.
This comes as a setback to those in the party who have been time and again whipping up the demand for a republican order citing the continued regression as the enough reason for the centrist outfit to effect a policy change vis-?-vis the constitutional monarch.
Potential candidates for the top post of the NC like Narahari Acharya and Ram Chandra Paudel have been indicating at the need to act tough something which is not admissible to Koirala.
Koirala also came down heavily on the constitutional monarch and the international community for raising objection in their own way when the parliamentary forces raise the issue of opening talks with the Maoists.

This is another unfortunate moment. Koirala, at 83, is not willing to make a room for 2nd generation. If not now when. Then this is nothing surprising either.

STORY OF GIRIJA'S MARRIAGE

Girija was once traveling in a bus in Varanasi. On the same transit were a widow lady of Nepalese origin and her little son. They already had a fair "chinajani" before, although no strings attached.

All of a sudden, the driver applied the brakes and the bus came to a jolting stop. At this point, the kid was thrown away in the alley while Girija successfully acted to catch him. then, the mom took care of the kid, put him in her lap, and asked him to thank "Girija uncle". The kid, however, said "thank you, dad". The widow turned red and Girija could see that she really felt bad. गिरीजाको मन पग्ल्यो रे. And he said, "Its allright, he can call me 'dad', if you dont mind". Thats how, they got married. The son still lives and uses his surname as "koirala", although he is not into politics. The couple later gave birth to Sujata.

If that was true, Girija was a braveheart then.
