"Not all movies are bunch of bologne, some are good. Nepalese movies have a way to go, sad thing is that, they are mere copycats, verbatim conversation as indian movies and same stunts and display of histrionics. There are of course some talented bunch of actors and actresses but are bounded by directorial restrictions. " I think American movies are just as bad of copy cats as any other country. Americans have not made an original movie since forever!! All they od is recycle old movies and rip everyone off!! And then make sequals and sequals and more sequals!! Its dumb! but why is it that people who are not Americans care so much about American entertainment anyway? Dont you think thats just being a copy cat as well? Just trying to be American and get into their music, their movies and entertainment and knowing their pop culture??

Dear andy, I understand what you mean, but honestly speaking, where would you find the older versions of Taxi driver or Cramer vs Cramer? Are they really copycats? I believe 90 % of the hollywood movies are made on their own and the reason I like them besides all others is I ENJOY them. Look at the visual effects, look at the sound recording and editing, the background music, everything is so picture perfect. Can you match any movie with Mission Impossible or The last of the Mohicans or simply The big fat liar? I am Nepalese, I will forever be and I am proud of it, but not when it comes when I see my movies, as someone wrote earlier, I cannot stand to see the loose mane of rajesh hamal or the equivocal Bhuvan KC. I did not mean to offend my fellow audiences, it is mere subjective and a personal belief. And yes bodmas, I am a fan of Ayn Rand if you are wondering if that name came out of "atlas shrugged"

More then 90% of hollywood is not original. Its utte crap. Most of their horror movies are remakes of old classics like Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of The Dead or they are just ripoffs of Japanese horror movies like The Ring and the Grudge. most of them are so boring!! All of their romantic comedies are the same stories just in different places and they suck. face it hollywood is all about sex and nudity with completely unoriginal storylines. I watch Hong Kong action movies and japanese.

I dont really catogarize movie saying hindi, english, bengali or korean. I love all kind of movies which makes sense and which has something to give to society. My listing will be as follow caste away: it is one of the most diffcult acting done by tom hanks coz it is hard to show your acting when u r single to prove in movie Dil chahata hai: Amir khan was superb coz it is hard to potrey himself as teenager and still make ppl belive that he is young at that age The game: very unpredictable and unexpected which takes audience which he/she wasnot expecting Hera pheri: Each and every moment of it was amazing and pain in stomach, superb perfomance by versatile paresh rawal Elizabeth: Amazing movie done by shekhar kapur who has potrayed queen so well being indian director and showing what was going on between catholic and prostatian christian Kabhi khusi kahbhi gum: I havent seen any director like karan johar on that movie who did fair and give equal opportunity to act and there was no single place where u can say, hey amitab, sharakuh, hritikish or kajal was given more role. Dead man walking: I mean no one can give that perfomance given by sean penn on movie and showing what goes with the criminal mind. It was the first movie which makes gives u sympathy for criminal. Bagwan: It was bit too much but it made me talk to my father after 4 yrs. It was the movie which made me realise that whatever your dad is he is your father and you should respect it. There is so many guys i cant even finish in whole night

Anyway, there are couple of good Nepali movie made so far though they are not technically sound.. Bachna Chahane Haru --- Superb story -- wish I can remake.. Basudev -- Harihar Sharma is great.. he proved himself to be a legend in Nepal cine market Balidaan - Its so Nepali... Dewata -- Another good story. Saino I have heard Mukundo is good movie... But sad thing is our now industry is so much adapted from stereotypical hindi movie (just like those of oldies Jitendra and Sridevi kind). Last time I watched was DARPAN CHAYA (coz I heard its great movie), I was so frustrated to see lead duplicating not Sharukh Khan but Sharukh KHan's duplicate and then Director fail to deliver every aspect of reality. Acting was so horrible. Another example (I forgot the name of the movie) it was exact copy of hindi movie 'ANARI'. When interviewed with Director--- "the reason behind making a carbon copy"? his answer was "We took an account to majority of Nepali viewers who had fail to understand such an outstanding movie, so we thought to translate it in Nepal" --- Yesta chan hamro director. For instance lets take Saroj Khanal and his outperformance in BHID DEKHI BHID SAMMA, it was the greatest teleserial in the history of NTV and every single actor, actress were great but when it comes to movie you will see how bad is Saroj performance not because of acting but the way he has been presented. So goes to some of our good actor like Hari Bansa, Mandan Krishna and so on. So question is how it can be improved ? 1. Director should be able to think beyond bombay. 2. Story and Dialog (Something real). Real problem is here. 3. Should filter Actor and Actress, should avoid jumping jack. 4. Focus on technical aspect. Nepal has so many thing to capture in camera but we hardly see this happening in any Nepal movie. How it would be if we can caputure those exotic landscape in a camera as Eric Valli did in Himalaya ?

Andy, Our argument leads nowhwere because you do not accept the reality, I said 90% of the movies are originals and the rest 10% go to the movies you have listed. Dude, I have seen the original versions of Grudge, Ring and Texas Chainsaw massacre. If you are running out of the name of other movies, they are Ocean's 11, Starsky and Hutch, Who's scared of Virginia Woolf (The hours was based on that movie). Even Ray was another version of Ray Charles live. Also Charlie's angles was remade. But the point is, don't you enjoy these movies? If you think movies are utter crap then I must say you are either a geek or a nerd. No offenses, but your argument are ridiculous and self contradictory, see the postings of various others, especially pisces, he/she shares common views with me, moneyminded and rest of others agree with me too. You are just missing a point, if you think hollywood movies are inferior, just list a few international movie industries which have come out unscathed

Moneyminded, Thanks for listing few good movies, Sean Penn is a terrific actor, but somehow I cannot relate to him, he looks angry and discontented at all times, I liked Susan Sarandon better than Penn in Dead man walking. I liked Penn in fast times at ridgemont high though

i liked penn in sweet and low down too. Altho his guitar playing was better than that by hindi movie actors, it could have been a bit more realistic.
