However, since February 1st, my faith on Channel News Asia has been tested. This is regarding the recent takeover of power by King Gyanendra in Nepal.
Channel News Asia have been telecasting certain points that couldn't be more further than the truth. For example: the news stated that the Maoist
terrorists called a 3 day nation wide protest and closure on Feb 3-5th after the proclamation by His Majesty on February 1st. The fact of the matter is
that these Maoist terrorists called for this closure long before the proclamation took place. It looks to me that Channel News Asia does not care to verify
the facts before telecasting the same. Whatever it's reporters care to report is considered God's truth. Another issue, the last emergency in 2001 which
you had reported was called by the King...I beg to defer that, as per the constitution His Majesty had called the last emergency in 2001 on the
recommendation of the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

You have reported that massive rallies and demonstrations are being planned against the Royal Takeover. We have not heard of any rally being organized so
far. Thank God we do not have to face any more of these so called rallies. We the working people of Nepal had to face the brunt of these rallies that were
called everyday before the Royal takeover. These parties would block traffic destroy civic property and cause traffic snarls for hours on end. We are
thrilled now that none so far since the takeover.

I would like to advise you that the recent events in Nepal is a much awaited breath of fresh air, that most peace loving Nepalese were looking forward to.

Most News Channels, including Channel News Asia in some way or the other have been criticizing the Royal takeover. May I ask, where were all these channels
when our country was been raped by these so called politicians. These corrupt politicians, especially those led by Girija Prasad Koirala have been raping
their motherland since the inception of democracy in Nepal. The Maoist movement started because of the massive misrule and corruption and was initially
against the politicians. Now since the Maoists too have become corrupt they choose to target the monarchy.

How many of these corrupt politicians were targeted by the Maoists (their agenda was against corruption)? I dare say NONE, because it is obvious that these
corrupt and the Maoists are hand in love. As long as the problem regarding the Maoists persisted in Nepal, the politicians could have a party siphoning the
funds that were meant to tackle development, poverty elevation and home land security. Nepal has received Billions of dollars in Aid since 1990, but
nowhere can we see an example of the funds being utilized for the people of Nepal. Most of this aid has been pocketed by the politicians.

The political parties could not unite to fight the Maoist, but choose to oppose The King, who has sworn to bring about lasting peace and development in
Nepal. These parties were continuously at each others throats fighting to get the chair while Nepal burnt. Who would you expect to bring lasting peace and
good governance, the corrupt political parties or a strong sincere monarch? Obviously the later.

As for these so called HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS, who claim to represent the people of Nepal against human rights violations. This couldn't be a bigger joke.
To me it looks as though these activists such as Krishna Pahadi and Padam Ratna Tuladhar are lobbying for the Maoist terrorists and using the Human Rights
forum to avoid been questioned by the security forces. How many times have these people critisized the Maoists for their killings, head chopping and
inhuman like activities. Maoists have been abducting school children from all parts of the country to forcefully educate them on the Maoists way. Have
these activists even raised a whimper, "NO". But they openly support the Maoists.

The International Human Rights watch dogs as they are called, choose to target Nepal, as it is a small country and they feel can bully it easily.

I strongly feel, one of the main reasons terrorists all over the world enjoy a certain amount of protection, is because whenever any government takes any
action against these terrorists, these activists cause a hue and cry claiming violation of human rights. Can these activists stop these terrorists from
committing crimes. I am not saying all human rights activists are bad, but for sure most are becoming bad and using Human Rights as a tool to propagate
their own thoughts.

Nepal is fighting an enemy from within, unlike nations like USA whose terrorists are from beyond their own borders. Most of the Maoists terrorists in Nepal
are fellow Nepalese who has been misguided or coaxed into the Maoist way of life at gun point. When the Security forces undertake their combing operations
they cannot say whether one Nepali is a Maoist and the other is not just by looking at their faces. An innocent looking child sitting next to you on a bus
could be a Maoist. So when people are detained for investigation to verify whether Maoist or not these Human Rights activists raise a hue and cry. Do you
expect the Nepalese solider surrender their arms and suppose that the Maoist movement will be solved by the Human Rights Groups? Obviously Not.

The Maoists are clearly violating International codes by recruiting Child solders at gun point and forcefully, but what extent of there atrocities are
publicized by you and other news channels. "Very Little". News Channels such as BBC and Channel News Asia and even the human rights group hardly have
anything to say against all this. Could I imply that your reporters are scared to report on the massive human rights, child rights and all other rights
violations these terrorists commit. It certainly seems so.

Now when there is a glimmer of hope for our ill-fated nation to again look forward to peace and good governance the worlds media is having a ball
criticizing the one person who can achieve peace. Hasn't the world seen enough corruption, bloodshed? Nepal at one time was considered a Zone of Peace and
Nepalese were respected all over the world for their velour and honesty. NO more. I blame the Politicians, Maoists and the yellow journalism traits of the
Nepalese and world media. I am sure you have enough reporting on disasters and terrorists activities available, so why ridicule a genuine move towards
peace and prosperity.

You say that His Majesty is undemocratic. Tell me would a undemocratic King sit back for 3 years while these political parties hurled abuses at him on the
streets? Girija Prasad Koirala who was the Prime Minister when the Royal massacre took place in 2001. A commission was constituted to find the truth behind
the massacre. The commission published its findings saying that the then Crown Prince Dipendra was responsible for the slayings. But as soon as Girija
Prasad Koirala was removed from the PM post by his own party (which split) he cries that the whole thing was a Grand Design. Why didn't he say so when he
was PM at the time of the massacre? Would you care to ask him? A senior politician Madhav Kumar Nepal of Communist party of Nepal was the one shouting the
loudest that a commission should be formed to find the truth. King Gyanendra had offered this leading politician the post to head the commission and find
the truth, who not surprisingly declined. Later the then speaker of the House and member of Girija's Congress party Taranath Ranabhat headed the commission
along with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and others all political appointees. If His Majesty was undemocratic these hoodlums in guise of
politicians would have been arrested long back.

In my opinion the current arrests are to bring these corrupt to justice. I pray to God Almighty that these people are brought to swift justice so that the
world can see for themselves what they were up to during the last 15 years of Corrupt rule (I cannot call it democratic rule).

It is obvious that no democratic nation or political party or other will take the Royal takeover as a good move. Believe me we in Nepal who are suffering
are the only ones who see the truth. I ask the democratic nations and people to lead by showing Nepalese what a good democracy is and not by supporting the
corrupt Nepalese politicians.

I ask you to send your reporters to the streets of Nepal and get the publics opinion on the Royal Takeover, you WILL be surprised at the vast majority that
supports this move by His Majesty. His Majesty is the ONLY leader in power that genuinely cares for Nepal and its people.

I ask your channel as a responsible news Channel to kindly look into both sides of the story before bringing any topic concerning Nepal to a conclusion. I
further ask you to kindly support His Majesty is trying to bring lasting peace in Nepal. We desperately need Peace and we believe only His Majesty can and
will deliver as per the aspirations of the people of Nepal.

All I ask of you is to help Nepal and its people by telling the truth to the world. Democracy is Good but without strong ethics and a strong foundation it
is useless. Only people with money can come to power not people who want to do good.

lastly I would also like to remind you that His Majesty during his Royal proclamation has strongly mentioned that democracy will be restored stronger then
ever as soon peace is restored or within 3 years. Let the people of Nepal be their own judge, please do not help cloud their already distorted judgment.

Please do feel free to contact me for any further information you might require from Nepal. I will revert immediately with the truth.

Thanking you and best regards.

I can say that Krishna Pahadi has long been PUBLICLY critical of Maoist atrocities.
He is someone who appears to be genuinely, earnestly and -- and I dare say --
naively committed to the cause of human rights issues.

I say "naively" because my only problem with him is that he devotes an insane amount
of time on human rights tamasha (i.e. leading rallies and staging his own mock-arrests and issuing statements) and NOT enough on working hard and working strategically and behind the scenes to help make Nepal's legal architecture actually address the cause
of human rights.

One example is that, say, if your relative disappears in Nepal (and I am talking about pre-Feb 1 Nepal) , there is no way you can even begin to navigate a legal or a just or even official means to find out what happened to him or her and how you can seek any semblance of justice.

By now, after all these years, one would have expected human rights activists in
Nepal to have put together an apparatus that addresses "disappearance" cases.

But, alas, in that matter and others, we are where we were in 1996.

I question: With a National Human Rights Commission, and with 100s of donor-funded human rights organisations and their branches across Nepal, how the hell did all these human rights abuses did really take place in Nepal? But take place, they did.

Sadly, Krishna Pahadai et al, despite their palpable sincerity, have been spending too much time on wrong, glamourous, publicity-rich and easy aspects of human rights and NOT on in the grubby basement of human rights program where the work tends to be tedious, draining, unglamorous but ultimately much more important and "system-building" kind of kaam.

As for Padma Ranta, I think of him as a likable comedian whose endearing trait is that he wants to be liked more than be respected. In a previous negotiation with the Maoists, he thought HE was the news, and not the negotiations!

That said, I do urge the government to RELEASE Pahadi and other human rights
activists as soon as possible.

Keeping them in detention serves no purpose and is actually expensive ( in terms of the money spent to arrest them and to feed them and in terms of tainted int'l reputation) .
