Prashant Tamang, a constable in the West Bengal Police, was on Sunday night crowned Indian Idol after vanquishing his rival Amit Paul in a grand finale of the over-two month long talent hunt.

Tamang, 24, who hails from Darjeeling, has undergone a journey from being a member in the police band in Kolkata to becoming the heart throb of millions of TV viewers all over the country.

The grand finale was an all North-East affair as Tamang took on 24-year-old Paul, who hails from Shillong.

The results of the talent hunt were announced at a gala event in New Delhi with the final witnessing a whopping seven crore people sending in their votes.

Tamang stole the centrestage with his rendition of the song Yeh Kali Kali Ankhen from the Hindi film Baazigar.

As Bollywood actor John Abraham announced Tamang the winner, the constable thanked his mother in a voice choked with emotion.

"I thank my mother, public and Bengal police for granting me the permission for participating in the show," he said.

In conclusion, 24 year old lad has showed the unity of Nepalese all around the world.
How can I forget our pride Nepali TOPI put on by her mother? How can we not support such a diligent mother for giving great culture to her son? It was not a battle of song or singer. It was simply reviving our status. Till last night Nepali TOPI use to represent the symbol of Gorkha “Chowkidar” for all the Indians. Recklessly, it is not surprising to see disgrace on their face to stereotype approach of theirs being downed big time. Today, Nepali Topi and word Gorkha will resonate again and again in history of India. Our brave beneficiary has given life for Indians to shield their motherland end we face catastrophe on political matter predisposed by Indian.
You made me shed tears brother Prasant, You are my Idol. Forget about Indian idol. You are simply replica of peace and unity what we were century ago. Hopefully, our pride will remain forever and I wish you all the best in coming future. Thank you big-time for making Udit Naryan realize that he is Nepalese too. He is been hiding it acting as dual role mentioning both possibilities out and in of border. He was afraid of loosing his career. Today, he has realized what Nepalese is all about. My Hats off! To Mr. prasant for sticking to his ethnicity. Simply! Proud of you for making entire Nepalese shine. Your voice has came out in larger extend. Contentment along with regret is the two fundamental elements of any cultured male. In general I disgust to destroy moan at any event. There are few moments in existence where I have cried again and again. A little tears fall for joy several for loss. I fit in to those categories as glowing.
