Wha's with all the tags on your flyer ? R those stores and companies contributing to the up coming event ? Or is GBNC(belong to all greater Boston Nepali residents) committee taking advantage of the COMMUNITY and PIMPING their own pet projects now ? he he

IF THEY WERE SMART THEY WOULD HAVE MADE TICKETS WITH OR WITHOUT DINNER, SO MORE PEOPLE COULD JUST COME AND SOCIALIZE.

Interesting observation. In last gbnc program also there was President Travel promotion all over. Is GBNC getting any fee for promoting companies thesedays? Or is it simply the company owners taking advantage?

I think it is like running a govt. and they have the right to do what they choose as long as it is not illegal and harm the society in a negative way.

With some gliches which are bound to happen when you run a business or an organization, I personally, feel that the present GBNC execs are doing lot more than previous ones. Keep it up.

There is one thing I would like to correct on two of the names that are mentioned in the flyer/poster on left hand side of sajha.com for New Years Party are

1. Dr. Rudra Pandey also holds a PhD degree.
2. Dr. Usha Sharma was in UMass and now teaches at Quincy College.

Shirish,
I have no problem with them running the organization. All I am saying is that someone should be making sure their checks and balances are even. I am not accusing them of any wrong doing. In fact I applaude them for going to people's houses to collect cans and bottles for diff causes in Nepal, for bring ing the price down from $30 to $15-20 for tickets to the event.
One example being whatever happened to the entire PA system bought by GBNC couple of yrs ago ? I thought they bought that so they won't have to rent PA systems for such events right ? I mean if we as Nepali community members don't hold them accountable then who would ?

I couldn't help noticing that they advertised certain people like

Shiva Gautam
Usha Sharma
Bharati Gautam
Rudra Raj Pandey

coming to the event. Is this supposed to be a list of chief guests? I have never heard of these people why are they getting the spotlight?

I understand your concerns.

But when you have power, you tend to use/abuse to some extent. Well, we have to accept that as natural process.

I have no insider information but the last I heard was the system was given to some novice user, may be for private party and blew.

Shirish,
That is exactly my point !! So Our GReater Boston NEpali Community invested all that $$$$ in this PA System and now its gone ? It cost the GBNC community more than a $1000 to buy that system. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN BY HOLDING THE EXEC COMITTEE AND THE PRESIDENT ACCOUNTABLE.
By saying this I am not saying the current comittee did anything wrong but at the same time I would like to see some transparency

If someone broke it should they not pay for it? Pottery barn rule. Friendly suggestion is keep a deposit when lending out such expensive equipment.

Bathroomcoffee,

Well, I can not really question or ask for accountability for their deeds for I am a mere passive member of GBNC and my contributions are literally negligible.

I used to say (jokingly ni feri) in some other threads that they are tight lipped than White House. ;-)

Aba tapainko pali.....

Ratobhaley,

I know them personally so my observations will be biased and its between them and the GBNC.

But, their presence in the party will be a big example for those who complain about GBNC organizing parties only on Mondays. If they can attend the party and are not making excuses of having to go to work the next morning, then every other person CAN and SHOULD attend GBNC parties. After all how many times a year the parties like this are organized?

Shirish,
My concern is .. why do they have to be so tight lipped ? Unless they are doing something wrong and have to hide it right ? I mean does GBNC belong to the people or the people belong to GBNC ? If it belongs to the people then they have the right to know what GBNC did with their money right ? Anf if GBNC feels that we belong to them then they have the to be as tight lipped as they want and milk us like cash cows when they want.
So what exactly happened to that PA system I was talking about ? Does anybody know ? Or did Greater Bosotn Nepali Community just throw $1500 down the drain(that is why we need accountability) ?

We should look at more positive aspects on what they are doing to improve than making points on those kind of minor things. And I also don't think they wanted to harm the organization in any way with its hard earned cash.
