Friend of mine is worried because he is outof status without knowing.
He wasnt informed that time . He was trying to transfer he was told that he has been outof status for one year. He didnt knew that he was taking classes all the time..
International advisor told him that he has to go back to nepal and comt back for the reinstate..He is wondering whether he should go back home or stay here..
Your suggestion is appriciated

If he was taking full time classes then how would he be out of status as a full time student? If it is the school's screw up, then they should do the filing for reinstatement right here.

Thanks for ur response.Mandir
.He was trying to transfer last year to some other university.
and they release his transcript..But he didnt transfer...He went back to same college..
I think he was supposed to get the transcript back to same college ..but he didnt know that. Nobody told nothing about that. He went back to same college and they allow him to register the class. Than he didnt pay attetntion to that.
Any suggestion..??????????

Releasing a transcript should not get you out of status. I think the schools transfer students (as far as the status goes..one has to receive a transfer request from the other school..and the current school has to release you to THEM. ..from what I understand). Regardless, just seems like a mix up and I don't think it requires reinstatement by travel (i.e. travelling outside of the country to get reinstated). Getting a second opinion from a different counselor may clarify things a little for you.

binagajurkomandir is right. It may not require reinstatement. Talk to a different advisor.

BinaGajurkoMandir (in other words Gyane le sabai chorera Mandir matrai chodya) is Right! :-)
Listen! Since both parties have 50% fault in it, your best bet is to tell the school that they goofed up. You, going back to the same school and taking full-time classes, is more than enuff for you to bargain for your rights. So, my suggestion to you is -
* Tell your school that U HAVE BEEN taking full time classes therefore it is school's responsibility to write a letter to the immigration along with your reinstatement letter (explaining the real reason what happned) and submit it. Also, the reinstatement fee should be paid by the schooll, not you. Initially, they may ask you to write a check to the INS but you will get reimbursed. THERE IS NO NEED TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY.
Sometimes those people or advisors don't know jack sh*t, so it's YOU who need to show them where school was wrong and what they didn't do. Be very proactive and to the point when you talk to school's officials.
Just in case, if you still have to leave the country, just have all your transcripts ready, get a letter from scchool explaining what happened and how they failed to follow the procedure, You should be fine. Have everything in writing, because after all, it's your a*s on the line.
I hope it helps. G'Luck!
