While it is lauded by most of the society, Kantipur at times fails to bring forth the important news to the people. It has always been a pro-party, pro-leaders media house. The headline with the news about Girija quitting smoking made me laugh. Whoa…Kantipur, congratulations! Girija quits smoking,so, what? What is the big deal about his habits? I ponder…

Give me a break Kantipur.We don't visit your site to read news like this. No doubt, we get many more informative news from your site, but news about Girija quitting smoking making to the headlines is crazy. Come on, there are thousands of people who are starting and quitting smoking around the country. Couldn't you find some other news that could be of importance?

May be the media has no work now. Maoist rebels have stopped attacking. So, where to find the news? Isn't it true Kantipur? Agreed, I used a lot of information from Kantipur, but I was pretty sad to see news like this in your headlines.

If you cannot find news items, do search around. There are a range of social issues which has been inflicting pain and torture to thousands of people in Nepal. Write something on that. But please, give me a break from news like this. What do you people think about this? Do you agree with me?

PM Koirala quits smoking

KATHMANDU, May 31 - Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala formally declared that he has quit smoking permanently on the occasion of the World Anti- Smoking Day, on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had said he would not smoke in public places, on the same occasion when he was Prime Minister.

The premier's personal doctor Dr. Madhu Ghimire told that the Prime Minister had already quit smoking for health reasons, although he formally declared, today.

The Prime Minister has a problem in the lungs and his health condition is not that good because of his age, said Dr. Ghimire.

The Prime Minister has been advised to go to Bangkok for heath checkup, which he is said to be planning.
