This is a brief note to inform anyone who is interested that my dissertation titled "The Diurnal Cycle of Air Pollution in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal" is now available online. Go to: http://web.mit/edu/arnico/www/ then right-click on arnico_dissertation.pdf to save it to your computer. The file, containing heavily compressed graphics, is still 28 MB long. In a few weeks you will be able to request MIT to mail paper copies to you. I also hope to be able to provide chapter-by-chapter files online. I understand that several readers have been impatiently waiting for this; I apologize for both the bulky format and the delay; I was unable to come online all weekend. I will also not be able to respond to any comments for the next two days. Arnico.

Try this guys, not the one Arnico posted up; he used a slash instead of a dot. We can excuse you, Arnico. http://web.mit.edu/arnico/www/ This is a great study. Congrats, Arnico, one more time. Hope concerned people in Ktm can make necessary adjustments to clean the city's worsening environment and everybody else interested learn much. My own field is not environment, not even science, but I can understand its value. What are your plans now, Arnico? I hope to see you reach new heights. Best of luck

Lonley1 thank you for the corrected version. I was little bit confused with the link provided by Arnico.. I am very happy with this type of initiation by Arnico. we can share the informations like this. For me i really found it fruitful. As i have prepared mini report on PM10 of kathmandu valley based on the data provided by former Ministry of Population and Environment.... Again i would like to thank Arnico for sharing it .......

I made it online for a few minutes, finding a wifi connection at an airport... Lonely1, thanks for the correction. I had typed the link after having been awake almost 36 hours. Mokshyaa and Icanfly, I hope you were able to access it now. Sorry it took me so long to find out about the error. My immediate plans are 2 weeks in Nepal (resting and getting a better understanding of the ongoing changes), followed by a one-year post-doc at MIT, during which I will be working on two things: (1) turning the dissertation (and follow-up modeling studies) into a series of journal papers as well as articles for the general public. (2) working on an interdisciplinary research project with people in economics and policy to create a system for incorporating air pollution forecasts into varying emissions controls... in other words: how to use science to forecast conditions for bad air pollution 48 hours in advance, and use that information to make emitting pollutants more expensive during the times with bad air quality (using a "time-varying cap" in "cap-and-trade" emissions controls). The starting case-study will be the electricity producers in the northeastern US, but the principles apply to many situations, including Kathmandu. I expect to be away from the internet for yet another day... so if you wish to discuss/debate or chat with me, please do accept my apologies for the delay. Do feel free to e-mail me as well. Arnico.
