Someone who knows dial up connection stuff and internet connection stuff, please help me. Problem: My computer was invaded by spyware software since last May. I tried to solve it, but this Chor 180Solutions.com was so bad that I had to spend whole 8 months to understand how its occupying the spaces in my computer. Last Monday, I woke and tried to search each and every corner. Used google to find solution to spyware softwares hiding in my computer. I realized that whenever internet connection is there with administrator priviledge, it spreads like plague. So, I tried to erase all these files related to spywares from Windows and System32 (MS Window XP is running in my computer). It was quite successful. After spending hours infront this Bill Gates' crapy software, I finally got rid of spyware. But, when rebooted the system, my dial up connection icon shows internet connection with around 56kbps, but Internet Explorer or any other internet browser made by MS fails to connect to internet or browse HTML files / webpages. To get rid of it, I uninstalled IE and reinstalled. That failed my attempt. Then, I reinstalled Windows XP (Home). It also did not work. I went to see other friends Modem and internet connection options and TCP / IP properties, all look the very similar. I don't have netscape or any other browser made by non-Microsofters. What could be the problem? I tried with Ping, and when i add Ping and Server IP address or client IP address it shows well, but when ping is tried with any other IP or domain names, it fails. Give me a solution. Thanks. GP

Try netscape 7.2 with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2). i think this will work . netscape 7.2 works great in windows XP and it is much more safer than IE 6.0. OR try the following ; right-click IE on your desktop, select Properties, tab Connections. Select the current/default connection, then click Settings... On the bottom left is a box -Do not allow Internet programs to use these settings- Make sure that box is cleared. click apply. this might help you......

If you reinstalled windows XP and it didn't work, then it's not a spyware issue. I would start check your account for dial up access. Maybe your password expired, if it is a school account. Maybe you didn't pay your bills :) Best thing to do is check if it your account works on your friend's PC. gl

brainiac says, "I would start check your account for dial up access. Maybe your password expired, if it is a school account. Maybe you didn't pay your bills :)" Interesting but it has nothing to do with the password because GP says ?dial up connection icon shows internet connection with around 56kbps?. it means he has the internet connectivity.i recommend GP to change your IE settings as i wrote above.

gp, i think brianic has a solution. First try ur account on other user's computer, if it works fine then problem lies within windown, if it doesnt work then problem is at the host's end, not user's end.

Hey GP, There are lots of stuff in the System32 folder and when you are hijacked with evil spyware's u ain't gettin' rid of it without a proper software, not even a formatting will help cause some trojans does corrupts the boot files. Unless you do a low level formatting some of the trojans and viruses does exist. People does lot of stuff with their registry using regedit and stuff but that is not going to get rid off the spywares. So, best thing will be to buy a software like Spysweeper which is really great and will get rid of your spyware's ... those free spy blocking software does not work though. Now, if you don't have any important files in your computer then do a low level formating with a 98 boot up disk. First go the BIOS and the go to boot sequence and put floppy drive as the first boot up drive. Now, Insert the 98 boot up disk.. when you get to A:\ write fdisk then press Y and Y again. Then it will give you 4 choices. Press 3 to delete then press 4 to delete non dos partiotion. Then press 1. Then Yes then Enter. Then if there are more than 1 partition repeat the same thing again by pressing 3 and then 4. Now it will say you have to restart the computer. Restart it with the boot disk inside. Then you'll get a:\ again. Type Format C: then Enter, Type Y and enter. It will do the formatting. After it completes the formatting you'll see if you want any volume name just press enter. Now restart the machine with the WinXP disk but without that boot disk and do the fresh installation.. this will get rid of everything on the disk. If it does not find the XP disk while booting .. you have to go to the bios again and change the boot sequence to CD_ROM as the first boot up drive. Hopefully this will fix your problem. Good luck

Nepe sir, Thank you for your kindness. I feel ashamed to what I had written to you last time, that was really worst that my emotions drived me away, my apology to you in this wrong thread, but your kind response has put me in more trouble, earlier the best, so I don't miss this chance to apologize to you. Some time, I go overboard and that happens in this real world. Since that day, my computer's internet connection is also dead. I spend a whole week and failed to correct my computer that seems to be beyond my capacity. This week I will be proud of myself to be able to correct my own mistakes, where I did unjust on you by excessively pouring venom on you. That should be my achievment in this week, and atleast that I could do and is in my own control. Well, regarding my own computer, the experts here in my office also failed to correct and gave up with promises to reinstall another hardware that might work and putting whole blame on Dell's software team who might have sent wrong Network driver to me when I purchased it last year. I gave this correcting my computer's problem to one Nepali bhai here to whom its a challenging being a computer science student and he is interested to do it, because it might be useful to him in future. ..... Thanks a lot for your kind word. In trouble time, kind words are extremely powerful and I was excited to read your words. Have a nice weekend. GP

Hey all, who spend some valuable time to help me sort out my computer's problem. today, I downloaded MS's free antispyware software and it detected several spyware in my own computer. Being Microsoft world's biggest spyware manufacturer i.e. Windows, is fighting against his rivals and its good to hire him (the bill gate) and I am sure he will restrict all other spies as long as you allow this MS spy. I remember the things, a friend of mine had several friends who used to do Dada giri in Himalayan hotel (Sheraton time) was offered a handsom salaried plus food and drink security post, then he kicked out all bhare bhure gundas out of Sheraton complex. I am sure the grea spy of the world will spy all other bhare bhure spies around my computer and kick them out ... thats what I was reading recently on developments toward spyware stuffs. So, hire Bill Gate, he will work very well to protect your computer against these sanatina bhare bhure spies. GP

What dialup ISP do you use? I've experienced your problem and I felt it was the dialup connection software (NetZero). So Every time it happened I went and uninstalled Netzero and reinstalled it. The problem would go away but reappear in a month or so thanks to my son. By this time you'd find that NetZero settings and computer settings have changed. I could not afford to reformat it and did not. In case you reinstall XP with the system folders and files deleted, there is simply no way the spyware stays active, unless somebody again manually reactivate it by running it somehow. You have to make sure that autoexec.bat is empty while reinstalling too. Before reinstalling other packages it is a good idea to remove the old package's folders first. For those who wants to stay away from viruses and spyware, I have some suggestions. When time is good ------------------------ 1. Keep a constant backup of your disk, including the operating system by using track copies of disk. Do not keep too many copies, though. 2. If you can afford use two computers, possibly one embedded real-time router as an Internet access device. There are many ISPs which support linux and BSD for dialup connections. And Linux and other Unix systems inherently support IP forwarding and masquerading and firewall and are a good choice as front-end computers. The second computer (Windows, Linux) is for personal use like research and development working behind the firewall. 4. Be picky about turning on the security features unless you know you need it. When prompted, double-check what it wants to do. Disable dynamic, automatic updates/upgrades of any software. It is simply not worth it. 5. Do not allow suspicious folks to work in your computer. In particular do not let them run their EXE, BAT, COM programs in your computers unless you are quite sure what they do. 6. The first thing you'd like to do to all unsolicited popups is to kill them unless you are ready to take a chance. 7. Do not trust screen savers, anti-virus kits and spywares, antispywares unless you know the makers are reknowned ones and have a lot in stake in the business. These are known traps. 8. Ask your ISPs to block group mails if it makes sense. This is one way to keep away from worms. 9. Do not allow any scripts in your mail to run directly unless you know what it is. 10. Keep multiple copies of files in some other computers. When time is bad ---------------------- Backup is paramount when trying to fix your disk, files, OS etc. The idea here is to avoid reinstall of OS, worse reformat. 1. Run reliable virus scan tools. Do not trust all internet sites that claim to have good antivirus software. 2. Run Scanreg.exe 3. Run scandisk.exe 4. In case you have a bad experience and need to reformat the disk, just first uninstall all packages you could reinstall again later, then reinstall the operating system anew. And then reinstall your packages anew. If it does not fix your problems then some shareware and freeware that do not register but runs during bootup from autoexec.bat etc are the culprit. You might luck out and just deleting those freebies will fix the problem. 5. While reformatting, it is wise to format a partition at a time. 6. If after reformatting it does not change the situation, then I suspect the web sites you visit may be doing something, or worse the ISP itself. Probably it is time to change your OS to linux or BSD;-) PS My XP crashes at least once a day, but my linux desktop has been running for over a year continuously. Though, XP is crashing because my application gets some protection faults but still it should not have crashed anyway.

Some time, I go overboard and that happens in this real world. GP ji, That was nice of you to write those nice words. However, to tell you the truth, I was never offended. When we are inside politics, we are all those- left, right, middle, pro-republic, pro-monarchy, Constitutional monarchist, fascist, democrat, reactionary, neutral, progressive, skeptics and everything else in the book. Our activism for our faith inevitably brings us to a point to do what you did, or for that matter, what I did. I have made mockery of yours too, haven't I ? These things are political, not personal. Once we are outside politics, we are all sons and daughters of the same mother, Nepal, and we are emotionally bonded to each other by our common identity and love to Nepal Ama. At this level, we all love and respect each other. It's just natural. It?s a natural instinct we can not break even if we want. So don't worry, have a great weekend. We will survive political divisions

Try Microsoft Antispyware software. It is free. you can download from microsoft site. It detects and removes spyware like 180solutions.com here is instructions to uninstall 180solutions.com http://www.sawtoothdistortion.com/Articles/Uninstall180Search.html When it comes to internet connection :- you can ping but you can't connect or get error message like page cannot be displayed etc. That means Winsock is corrupted. You can fix that by running this tool http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html Hope that helps Cheers
