Seeing the many advantages I feel "Common Law Union" is kind of relationship worth exploring for people who are not yet ready to committ themselves to someone they are in romantic relationship.

Defination of Common Law Union:
A married like relationship (but not married) between couple made up of opposite sex partners (or of same sex partners in countries where same sex union is granted full legal status eg. Canada) who have been living under the same roof in a harmonious relationship for a period of time.

Denifits of Common Law Union:
* Full recognition and granted full legal status & rights by Federal and Provincial Laws in Canada.

* Can get into Common Law Union with anyone at anytime and leave the Common Law Union at anytime without the concent of your Common Law Partner.

* No need of going through the disgusting process of divorce and the legal hassels that follows divorce out of marriage.

* Can get married with anyone (Common Law Partner or the person other than your Common Law Partner) while you are still in Common Law relationship.

* No need to share your property with your Common Law Partner when you break up from Common Law Union with your Common Law Partner.

* No need for commitment nor are you forced to marry (if you choose not to) your existing Common Law Partner.

Hi Netaa_Ji...!!!

As you name suggests, you think politically correct..... You have a bright future ahead of you in our country...

To my opinion, as our Sajha Writer's Guild "Theory of Relationship", propounded by Awesome writer, Deepak Bhandari (check it out, it is quite remarkable...), you definitely fall under the catagory of Committment Phobia and Freedom Mania. Perhaps, it (CLU) is the theory of new generation: However, at the end, only emotional attachment that matters on "Common Male-Female Union!!!!"

At The End, Kindness only Matters....

Pheri Vaytaula...!!!

P.S-> Please do not take it literally: Hey may be it is just me....!!!

Well I have very little idea if I will have bright future in Nepal or not but I can definately count on cultural, social, political and economic values of Canadian society and I find myself even more connected and tied to Canadian society.

More than that I have no legal or political obligation nor am I forced by the Canadian govt. or by it's laws and the society to go and spend rest of my life in Nepal. The only connection I have left now in Nepal is my family connection.

I cant hold 2 passports of two different countries in Nepal under Nepali Law.

I just liked to add some points about bright future.

Well,
* I didnt and dont get free Universal Health Insurance Plan (or free health service) when I was in the US nor did I ever get it in Nepal. It's a trademark of Canadian society now. http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/public/program/ohip/ohip_mn.html

* I dont get EI (Employment Insurance) in the US or Nepal, better known as the money given to individuals who is out of job due to some reason eg. when I'm unable to work when I wish to take a career related training or join an academic program (college or university). http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/gateways/nav/top_nav/program/ei.shtml

* I dont get Employee Insurance & Compensation for rest of my life if I were to get into employment related accidents in the US or Nepal. http://www.wsib.on.ca/wsib/wsibsite.nsf/public/home_e

* I dont get welfare if I were in temporary financial crisis in the US or Nepal.
http://www.cfcs.gov.on.ca/CFCS/en/programs/IES/OntarioWorks/default.htm

By the way Common Law Union is not legally recognized in the U.S. (I dont know about European countries) by federal or state laws.

Same sex marriage is not legally recognized in the U.S. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2004/12/09/scoc-gaymarriage041209.html

Using or possesing of small amount of marijuana is proposed to be de-crimilized in Canada in near future however it is a serious legal trouble if you were to caught using or possessing marijuana in the US. http://canada.justice.gc.ca/en/foryouth/faq.html

common dude ..."Common Law Union" is simply a name given to that perticular type of relationship....it's nothing about having to look through the god da**m laws ..ha ha ha..Kanoon Ko Choraa ...ha ha ha ha...that was funny !! how about "Kanoon ko Bhai" (Brother- in- Law)..ha ha !!!

Anyway, afnoo desh ko society and cultural lae fully embrace garee ko kuraa..........why not experiment...like million of Canadians .......I dont necessarily have to follow this all my life..when I want, I can quit and get into normal traditional marriage anyway.

Just a little off topic but I would like to comment to Netaa_ji's remarks:

Free healthcare sounds great and all but it is not something I am so big on now. The reason being that I see so many loop holes wiht that. For eg..people have this tendency to abuse stuffs that are for free...few months ago I went to go see this doctor( first time in 2 years)...I walk in and there are zillions of people out there...standing on queue...then I realised people were coming to see the doctor for even minor little things..I mean like..ok ...caught some cold..gotta see a doctor...on the other hand Canadian governemtn gives "certain" amount of dollars to a doctor...for eg...for every patient that goes to the clinic , the doctor gets some amount of money..but as soon as he/she exceeds..some figure around 400k a year..the doctor wont be getting any more money ..no matter how many patient he takes..Now..this takes a effort cuz when the doctors know they are close to that number they usually take off or go on vacation or slack off...I mean..I dont blame them..but there is a loop hole..

Sometimes I feel deprived of the tax money I am paying..they tax us to bone and when I walk in the clinic I have to wait all day to go see a doctor..its not worht it.also..what about those people who are EXTREMLY self concious and go there...every week....I mean indirectly its affecting me...I would rather have my dollars and make the decisions..I mean...having that healthcare security helps.. but its not worth it..thats why more and more people..have private healthcare....

I hate the way Canada is dipping into socialist/capitalist dilemma...its confused..I should say..the greatest thing about Canada is the low violence rate comapred to US..other than that ..Canada looks good only on paper..I mean the way the government is opening hands to Gay marriage also has greed in it..I dont have anything against them..I have learnt to accept them with who they are ..but as more and more gay couples from US are settling in Canada..I am sure Paul Martin is smiling somewhere..

Casey00

Like you mentioned, I dont know how come you see govt.'s greed behind the government open policy towards same sex marriage. I dont see why and how the heck the govt is going to make money out of same sex marriage. I dont believe same sex couples have to conform to different taxtaion laws for being same sex couples or homosexual singles.

By the way, approximately 5 to 6 thousand US residents migrated to Canada between the years of 2000 and 2002 while about 11 thousand Canadians moved and setteled in the US in the year 2003 alone.

The accident I had in 2004 would have cost me no less than 20 thousand dollars to get the treatment from my specialist and two other therapist if I were to pay out my pocket.
During my 13 visits in three months I never had to wait for more than 40 mins to see my specialist. Till this day, I have paid "not a single dime" to get the entire treatment. Thanks to government operated OHIP(Ontario Health Insurance Plan) and WSIB (Workers Safety and Insurance Board).

We pay heavy taxes and we get a number of govt. services in return which are not available neither in the United States nor in Nepal. I strongly support the mixed (Capalist-socialist) economy because we get to reap the benefits of both of both.

Low rate of violence (compared to the United States) has direct relationship with the heavy investment made in Canada's social programs by the taxpayers. If any young Canadian is given with money to buy very basic necessaties of life such as money to rent an apartment and buy food then he/she is less likely to go and rob a bank or commit buglery or murder just to meet her/his basic necessities for life.

In addition if a govt gives money in loans or grants and support to any young people to go to college and earn a diploma or degree to get a better job and better life. Many will take the opportunity. We all pay for the social programs in a form of tax and we give some one else a chance to get their life better and stop a person from getting into desperate circumstances who would other wise committ any sort of violent crime in desperate circumstances.Instead of becoming a contributor he/she would become a burden and a lost opportunity.

We ourselves use such opportunities when we are in need. We never know when such need may arise. At least I have directly benefited from at least some of the social programs and indirectly from most of the social programs. I dont see heavy taxes are blindly unfair in Canada.
