“So today’s your last day here?”, he sat next to me and asked with a graceful charm. “Yep”, I replied in an informal tone trying my best to hide my sentiments. “I hope you have learned enough” he was curious but I just smiled. We’ve been together in our music class for 2 years now. He was the first one I noticed when I entered the class the very first day. I could see his shiny eyes making his way through the crowd, patting a beginner’s shoulder in between and finally extending his hands towards me: “We’ll be learning together for however long you’ll be here.” I bet no one can afford ignoring his poise while he’s just in front singing songs and I’d be no exception to that. The way his hair fell to his face without effort every time he sang a note despite the pony he had tied must have made other music aspirants’ hearts skip a beat too. “It’s because it makes me feel like I’m a rockstar”, he would justify the rationale behind his long curly hair when someone questioned about his looks followed by an uncontrolled laughter which sounded like a pressure cooker whistle. ‘‘Coz you’re amazing just the way you are” I once sang Bruno Mars. I wonder if he’d realized my feelings then. It was a mere imagination of my sole thoughts that someone this talented as him would want to be with a mediocre like me…and I literally mean mediocre in everything. To put it into words this was the best time of my life. Nothing has ever made me so happy than joining the music class. I realized that having no expectations from someone makes you happier when you’re around them. But now it has already come to an end. I know it’s not gonna take very long for me to forget him but he’s one of those memorabilia which I don’t want ever to go from my mind. We might never meet each other again and it becomes clear as crystal that he’s never gonna know I used to feel butterflies in my stomach every time he reached out for me. “Why didn’t you come yesterday?”, he queried on my absence. “I got caught up into something”, I answered casually. No wonder this is why everyone’s always saying “Girls are best in hiding what they actually feel” and right then…I proved it. “I won’t forget you. I hope we’ll stay connected through Facebook.” He said it and I knew the time to bade farewell was there. “Well I’m not a loyal Facebook user but the world’s so small, we’ll certainly bump into one another someday.” I said it so simply while I was already breaking inside.

Why does the girl not express her feeling when she is so much in love with the boy? A boy either loves you or not and if he shows the affection towards you, you can be sure that your proposal will not be turned down. In my experience girls are very mysterious creature. They are in love, not in love and undefined. I don't know what goes on in their mind, even if a girl is in love with you, you cannot be assured that your proposal will be accepted. She may still be want to be only friend with you with full of love inside. Why are girls not straight?

In general, women are confused souls. They don't know what they want.

NepuGal, Yes, indeed. Crushes always bring back sweetest memories... Nas, Thank you. mancini, From what I see, the girl is happy living in the situation just as it is. Loving someone and having a crush are two different perspectives. And like you said, while girls are really mysterious CREATURES...I think men most often fall for the same feminine mysterious-ness. bittertruth, In general, we all are confused...we all are scared at times. Denying it won't change the fact.

Sambidha, Reading your story made me realize how flawed mine are. Your story was simplicity at its best, and yet spoke volumes of reticent romance. Makes us readers ponder one more time if it would be as thrilling if the closure ended in a french kiss. No one makes this world more exciting than confused souls. Kudos.

Reminds me of a line from a song - "Have you ever wonder - what we could have been if you'd only let me in"

Whoa okay this is getting out of the line. I'd appreciate if we had a literary criticism rather than who looks better where...made me remove the picture though. Besides these don't last forever. We could learn so many good things from these many similar minds. Well that's my only intention here. BTW Nas, they say that "The more you chase the butterflies, the more it runs away from you." So don't you think you're chasing after too much, bro? P.S. The girl in the article is NOT me. Something called "FICTION" too exists in the literary world.

Good Narration Sambidha . ".....someone this talented as him would want to be with a mediocre like me…and I literally mean mediocre in everything." This line reminded of my school days.... thats what I felt , kinda..... its a good writeup . As Behoove ji already said simple worded yet speaking in volumes... asking readers to think and recreate their own version of ending... - Thaha Chaena

Nice one Sambidha.... and I loved how it ended... “Well I’m not a loyal Facebook user but the world’s so small, we’ll certainly bump into one another someday.” I said it so simply while I was already breaking inside.

'To ask is a moment shame, not to ask and remain ignorant is life long shame' that's what he had written in my diary as his last msg to me. Unforgettable! If i were the female character of this story, i would have at least tried to opt out the reason to regret for not expressing what i feel, despite his response being positive or not. Nice story!
