Hey guys, this is pretty funny. I didn't think anyone else went to that school other than me...and that green bus really hit me. That is a million dollar classic. Anyways, I think I am from the 90 batch (or is it 91). I difinitely remember Harki Dai..dark short gate keeper fella. I always thought he was mean and bad. And the bus driver, the one who drove the big red pauroti bus - he always thought he was the best. Made us wait hours in basantapur stop and sometime did not drop us home until 7 pm. It took about 45 mins to refuel that bus and never sped past 10 miles an hour. Think It went out of commision around 86, 87 and used to be parked behind the brick building. If I remember correctly, the green classic bus used to turn into a candy store by the day - never had a chance to ride on that, it could not make it to my jurisdiction. The principle was Prachanda Manandhar, think he taught math or something - never paid attention to math. There used to be an english teacher by the name of Dakipa Sherpa, who, from what I understand, commited suicide for whatever reason. He was a good teacher but god only knows other issues he had. Math teacher was Sobhit, Madhise looking guy..think he pulled my by my hair and slappled my face one time, that bastard. He was a boring teacher - never wanted to pay attention to him. But he was a good guy by heart. Surah Dangol, he used to think he was a sports teacher, but at times he taught accounting or something. I also remember Rita Yonjan who died. I remember nepali teacher Guragain, and Thapaliya or something... Right, the guy named Nishant, I too heard he died in a freak motor bike accident. There used to be a guy named Dickin (yes real name). He knew some gansters and used to be kinda bullish. I have forgotten most of the names ....a dark fella named karpur khadka and many many others that don't remember names of right now... It was really easy to sneak out of the school from the back alley way towards ring road. Think my class was right there around 7th grade. Oh there used to be a girl named lipika...coundn't remember if she was from the same batch. ..will write more later.

Oh! Yes, you are right badmash, Dakipa sir committed suicide, I also remember Sobhit sir but never had any class neither with Dakipa sir nor Sobhit sir. Man, you misspelled our principle's name. It is PRASANNA not Prachanda. He tought Geomety and he was very good teacher. I admire him and I liked the way he tought class. His brother Rajesh Manandhar was also in my class. He always practicing karate in class during break time, I think he was going to dojo then. I also remember Pramila miss she tought 'lil kids but rode same bus with me. Dude, you said you are from '90 or '91 batch but how do you know all of those facts? I remember Sharada Lepcha, one year sr than me. I remember Diken from Satdobato to but he was one or two year jr than me. I feel sorry for you man, you got slapped from madise Sobhit sir! I remember Lipika to but I thinks she is too younger than I am. Thapaliya sir was the chasme sir and tought, I think, account but never to me. I used to play hookie sometimes using that back alley to ring road. It is very nice knowing and meeting all ex-MAVs here. GO MAV!

Badmash, if you are from the batch of 1991 (first SLC batch in the post-Panchayat era), then we may be classmates. I was there for three years from 1986, then transferred to another school in class 9. Sobhit Lal taught us science in class 7. I think he was a good teacher, but sorry for those whose kanchat ko rau were plucked. I can only imagine the pain of it. Prasanna Manandhar taught us in some "extra" classes (covering the classes of absent teachers), and I fully agree that he was an excellent geometry teacher. It is not Surah Dangol, but Suraj Gopal Shrestha who taught sports and accounting. His brother Sunil Shrestha also used to teach science but resigned around 1987. Rita Yonjan taught us history. She often used to be in our bus, and also sometimes was seen being dropped off in a maroon (I think) Toyota Corolla. She also used to have the strongest smell of perfume. We used to think that she was the richest of all the teachers there for those two reasons. I really did not like her teaching, and was a victim of group pitai (ek dui jana le halla garda sabai le pitai khane) a few times. I did feel sorry to hear about her death though. I think she had asthma, indicated by her frequent coughing. Guragain was a pretty funny teacher tara pachi po thaha bho, most of his jokes were actually out of Bhairab Aryal ko Jaya Bhudi. Thapaliya was also a fun teacher. Tanka Sharma, who was the VP then, taught us Nepali...laamo ke ke guff garyo ni "aba bisaya bastu tira lagoo" bhanne. I was admitted to MAV in the year Dakipa committed suicide. I think he took a couple of "extra periods" teaching grammar. Bihana assembly ma "cover up..hands down" bhanera thul thulo swor ma karaeko samjhinchu. Four members of the Shrestha family from Lagan (Uttar Man and Pramila, and their daughters Prakala and Pratibha) used to teach there at one time. Pratibha, who taught us science, was the first one to quit, I think. She was a good teacher. I was not taught by the rest of her family. I do also recall the name of Lipika Karmacharya. I think she was a batch senior to us. Deepak Acharya was another good and funny English teacher. He was later promoted to VP. I wonder how he is now. He was known to be a heavy smoker and drinker, and frequent had his hands on his chest due to pain. Lau sathi ho, guff suff thapdai garu.

hey guys ....nice to read ur posts...but unfortunately i dont know anyone of u cozz u guys r much more seniour than i thought,,but even though i wanna tell u the most recalling incident of batch 1999... well it was not allowed 2 keep long hair 4boys at tht time..but almost everyguys have had long hair,,so one day mr.bantawa(the current principle,i think) had decided 2 call the barber in school and he did,, more than 60 students were being called on the terrace of tht big red building ,(i was one of them too )and serially one by one student's hair been cutoff there..and there was queue outside and in hostel to take a bath.. and guess wht nobody agreed to pay the money to barber,,so bantawa sir had informed every student tht he's gonna put tht fare in next coming fees bill...and when the fees bill were distributed everyone got shocked tht mr.bantawa had charged abt Rs.60 or 50 just for cutting the hair.at tht time it should've only cost Rs15-20.so all the students were just shouting at him...and some of the students even called their parents for discussing abt tht matter,,,it was just so funny though..... and other thing i recall most is being plucked of kanchat ko rau by jai rai sir so called boka sir ..he used to teach history ,it was just so painfull tht everstudent who had been victim of him will remember him,and abt sobhit(madhise) i think he is the vice-principle these days....he too used 2 pluck the kanchat ko rau... well it's so good 2 remeber those funny days so guys keep posting ur memories frm m.a.v...

there was this time we had a volleyball match, i think it was around 87, i was in bhanu saadan. In the half time we were resting and a guy of our saadan was drinking water from a metal jug ( aankhura). Some other guys were playing with the ball, practising smashes. Accidently the ball came right to the guy drinking the water from the aankhura and hit the aankhura. And guess what happened after that. The aankhura hit his teeth and his teeth came out. It was hilarious. The guys name was"gobre" a nick name received from Dinesh subba(english teacher)

Dinesh Subba sir's nick name was गैंडा सर. He used to bit like a boxer. He taught english and music and we had to sing in his class. In the first class I sang the song "धेरै देखें सपनीमा धेरै लेखे चिठ्ठी" And he was so impressed that I sang his song.

"Timro Hamro Maan Ko Duri Bade Jasto Cha"- Dinesh Subba That was pretty good song though. "Hoinaa ta"- Who used to say like that??? "Bakulli" Kasko Nick Name We gave nick names to every teacher. That was funny. We used to make fun of them and they made us something. Thanks to the "GURUBA" & "GURUAAMA". Long live MAV but do u know that MAV is in crisis? We gotta save our school. I don't know how but we have to. I know Fiju Dai is MD of Sita Airlines. He was buying Planes and used to talk about it when I was in Nepal. I worked for MAV Alumni for few months but I got busy after that. Then I came to USA. Now I don't have any contact with anybody. Could somebody contact Fiju dai? We need our own network in USA for brotherwood. How does that sound?

Everest8848, lau eutai batch po pariecha ta. I am still in occasional touch with Yagya. He got married last year. Suraj Shrestha sanga ta ekai thau ma bus chadhinthyo. Juna Shrestha ko ISc garda gardai bihe bho, and had a son soon bhanne sunieko thiyo. Sanu bhaneko ta thaha bhaena, I do remember Dinesh Bhushal though. Krishna Rana also sounds kinda familiar. So who was in your circle? I used to hang out more often with Yagya, Sabin Sthapit, Binaya Kharel, Bipul Karki (1998-99 tira ek dui choti chat ma bhet bhaeko pani thiyo, he was in Nebraska then), Kaushal Neupane etc. Phatte, "Hoinaa ta"- Who used to say like that??? Maheswor Upadhaya Timro Hamro Maan Ko Duri Bade Jasto Cha"- Dinesh Subba That was pretty good song though. I agree with you. I also like his other duet "thaha napai mero maya timi sanga basyo hai" with Pabitra Subba. I also remember him singing "dhaka topi ma hera galbandi ma hera" a few times. Do you know if he his still active in music? I tried to google him some time back but could not find much info. Jaya Rai sir ko ta naam pani birsisakeko thie. I think he used to teach only in the primary level.
