I had promised that I was going to start my own thread regarding stock investments and the markets. So many things have happened since last time I was here and I really do not feel like sharing my knowledge. But a promise is a promise and there have been few people that have emailed me and supported me. This thread will deal with investing in the stock markets. I will not discuss individual stocks but discuss ETFs like SPY, DIA, IWM and QQQQ. The one good thing about trading ETFs compared to individual stocks is the the ETFs provide instant diversification among similar companies within the same sector. I will post more as we go along, regarding entry-price, profit-target and stop-losses. I do not think that any ETF is good or bad. It is good only if I'm making money and bad if I'm losig money. If you have not been in the market so far, please read this as an information piece only rather than my recommendations. There is risk involved and you should know how much risk to take on any position. Any suggestations, comments and criticisms are welcome as long as it is market related. If this thread gets out of hand and we start discussing off-topics, I'll stop posting. Have a happy new year!!!! May 2007 bring you and your family lots of joys and riches.

We are waiting on Fed results on interest rate. With all M&A action, it is a good idea to get into mutual fund on merger side. My pick is MERFX ARBFX. Reco: CNN Money. Happy trading day guys. Wait till after lunch when things will tend to go green. I suppose the interest rate is going to remain the "same", but you never know with all the inflation data, plus the real estate glut.

Bri: No, these sell offs are largely profit taking motives by individuals with a whack load of shares or by large mutual funds. and today's was even more stupid- an anticipation by the FED to cut rates to so that capital is cheap. No market is always green costantly. We are still safe at this point and judging by how the market has been reacting I am not worried at this point. See how the smaller guys like us are shaken off by the market? We like to think it's a selloff when it's not. Well, I really can't say whether we are in a downtrend or not. All I do is follow the market. If it's going up, fine I'll go up. I'f it's down, I'll slide along with it and make several shorts. If we see closer, the market gapped down but the buyers always manage to push it up. And as far as my positions are concerned, yea, I've been taking a hit but I'll see if I can do anything today by afternoon. If the stocks head higher towards yesterday's close then I am not gonna touch them. If they head lower, then I may simply havve to look for better opportunities. A good reasoning is tht market seems to fall twice or thirce the rate that it rises. But in the long term, it always seems to be going up. but tht being said, don't keep on losing money- preserve it. So, conclusion? We're in a healthy uptrend. Every healthy market chokes once in a while- doesn't mean it's ICU :D

Any take on GROW? Emini was upbeat on this one. But I see them sliding down from possible 30s to early 20s... wow! Best~! -B

first of all. O, I contradicted myself. I'm out of ELY and GNTX. $120 loss. Kinda hurts but oh well, I always said those would be highly speculative and I'm OUT!!! OFFICIALLY!!! and LMAO: Check out DNDN. Thats the kind of situation I found myself in a couple months back. GROW: Lets watch for a few days. Judging by the price acion, it's the short sellers covering their butts. If tomorrow or in a few days, it continutes to drop and drops below today's low then the next level we're interested is 18.00. a strong momentum above that and if it crosses 22.00 then I say it's a good buy for the longer side.

For a $20 stock, a lot of times, the spread on GROW IS HUGE. Looking at the L2 sceen you can easily determine lots of arbitrage opportunies. That also raises some concerns. Otherwise, if it keeps goin up, it is a buy.

TT, never mind!... I did not good feel about both of them, and I think I let myself known on that... neways, there is always a better opportunity, so let us wait on that. DNDN is massively beat. Their Cancer Vaccine zagged. It might go down further, given that investors seem not too kind on bio-tech. Hai na! Best~~ -B

Well, I have an eye on "energy" stocks. For sure one of them is going to be a harbinger. which one and when you could decide if you have your eyes wide open. Juss put them on your watchlist. And go on from there. http://biz.yahoo.com/twst/070509/zec800.html?.v=1

This sucks, we're the only two discussion stocks here. I don't blame the rest, it is boring to ponder over it day after day- and most people have jobs. I'm the one on a vacation. Anyways, Anybody want some $22.00 blue chips to bite on? The INTC stall is a few cents away!

TT & Bri: It's good to see you guys talking stocks here. If you have time I'd suggest you look at my methods for a long-term stock selection and post on that thread. Thanks.
