aznshawty,
Let me put my two cents...
I had to change my profession with nursing carrer. If you are smart and have at least similar degree then you can do much better with job satisfaction and earnings.
It depends on your interest, don't go only for the money. If you love sick people and ok to deal with dirt then go for it.Otherwise, it is frustrating to spent your life with nursing job
Good Luck

Latoboy, Nursing is not a girls job. And male nurses are not necessarily gay. The military hospital in Nepal has lots of male nurses .. well, they are called nursing orderlies but it's the same. Shuvalav, nursing job is not a frustrating job. If you found the job frustrating, then you were surely in the wrong profession or at least you had different expectations. Nursing is a rewarding job. I went to nursing school myself but could not maintain my score since I had to work a lot. Yes, it's a tough job but nothing beats the simple thank you's from the patients. It makes your day.

I was a nursing student. I could not make it. Working late nights to make enough money to pay for nursing school took its toll on my studies and I fell short of the required percentage. Missed it by less than 1 percent. However I still do my part - whatever small - in helping people in need, in my current profession. I get less thank you's and more FU's but still I don't take it personally. And those rare thank you's make my days for weeks.

Nursing pay's a lot ???? lol , who says ...Until unless you are a travelling nurse, i dont think nurses make enough . hmm lemme see , 20 yrs exp in ICU , they barely make 35 $ an hr . if not mistaken they start at what 18$/hr ... Not enough to make ends meet . But hey its a profession , not a good one if you are married , but then depends a lot on the person how they handle it . I would not recommend anyone this profession . Its not hard , but you are more like a doctor's personal assistant . Do what the boss says . juss my 2 cents .. I might be wrong .

Nostradamus you need to get your fact straight bro. I am a new grad nurse graduated last year my starting salary was $35 buck an hour. i think you are confused with RN and LPN. yes LPN makes $18 an hour starting. nursing is not hard but it is F@#king stressful.Unlimited hours my income last year was $ 80000. i am not bragging but it is the truth, so be a Nurse, we need more male nurses. Jai Nepal

just wanted to add in. I don't think its a good idea to pursue a career by how difficult the classes are? or how much money u end up making? It should be decided on whether or not you like what you'll be doing. The career you choose now will be something you'll have to do for the rest of your life. Even if you pursue some career by its lucrative income, i can assure you that after few months or years, money will have less importance and you'll just become sick of working because inside u'll just hate what u're doing. So I would like to recommend you to see what seems to be a good match to your interests...

Nursing is tough, intense study and very stressful. If u can't tolerate stress and can't do critical thinkings, then the profession is not for you. No doubt nurses makes a lot of money, esp RN. They have career ladders steps where they can show their proficiency and earn a lot. Its a profession of respect. Caring somebody isn't a easy task, has never been and will be never. You need a caring heart, you need a passion, and you need lots of knowledge and you need to be intelligent to be a good nurse. If not, you will get drowned. BTW, I have seen lots of good male nurses who does better job handling the critical situation. Its nurses who can save your life when you became hopeless and powerless over life critical situations.

After dealing with nurses for a long time , i think 70 % of them have an attitude thats pathetic . I really have no respects for nurses . They are a waste of space .Anyways , but the 30% are really good and have a great attitude . Hope nepali nurses fall in 30 % . 70 % of them that i am talking about are as dumb as it can get . And they really have no clue what to do with patience . They are more like doctors keep . Hope you are beautiful enough to be Doc's keep . Juss my 2 cents . Plz prove me wrong .

nursing is one of those professions which people take for granted but in order to become an RN in the US, you do need to work hard. getting the license or the BSN degree isn't easy. what you have to understand is that there is a huge shortage of nurses (esp RNs) due to many factors such as baby boomers, lack of class rooms & teachers, people quitting due to the stress etc. in many states, there's competition to even get into nursing school. only so many make it. like any other profession, an RN gets paid according to location. in the biggest metros a new grad makes around $28. maybe $18 in small midwest states. after a few yrs and with enough experience, an RN can make anywhere from $40-$50/hr in big cities with benefits and if you have a family benefits from hospitals are pretty good (ask people working @ kaiser permanente). with some overtime, an RN can command a six figure income annually. bottom line, to be an RN is not easy, an RN can work only so many days a week (maybe 3-4 days), schedule is highly flexible, salary is very good esp in big cities and not to forget it can be highly stressful many days of the month.

Fedreica read my comments . U sound to be in the 70 % . And as for you moron , it's gotta be my worst day to be even touched by a nurse if i have to come to the hospital .Hey it might be your lucky day , but unfortunately , if that day ever comes , i'l have a doctor by my side . You as a nurse are a waste of space and time . And yeah .. God bless your gay soul too . Neuro , god bless your gay soul too .I was trying to put my opinion on what i thought of nurses . It was juss an experience i have had for a long time working with them .Hopefully you'll fall in the 30 % i mentioned But if you dont , i really dont give a rats ass on it .

Discrimation is a big problem in USA either it is for colour, race or someones sexuality.Nostradamus you seem to an educated man. where did u get an idea that every man who goes to nursing is gay? that's the problem with you. Stop discriminating people. What if one of your child or sister or brother is gay or lesbain. Are you gonna treat them like you are treating us "the male nurses".?
