Hi all!!

I wanted to share with you all an article I have come across recently. I am sure many of you have heard of it and are well aware of it. Even then, I thought it would not be a waste to mention about it here on Sajha , for the news relates to someone amongst us that shines like the Sun , true to her name as well as virtues...

I do believe, with due respect to her, that every Sajhabashis should read it. I hope I am not on the dangerous grounds by posting this message...

The article can be found here....

http://www.nation.com.np/column_4.htm

Enjoy!!

Sitala hadul,
I read it too and the pleasure was all mine. Seemed like it was my thoughts that you put down on the words. So many people are being killed in Nepal each day, so many frustrations are piling up in every Nepali soul each and every day, and yet we somehow find a way to cope with it. But hey, why am I complainin'? I am just a sukumbasi, na ghar ko na ghat ko. "our heart lies in Nepal where we left it for safekeeping, safe from the thugs of ýdemocracy,ý protected from the ýfreedom fightersý and away from the vilifiers of religious harmony". And how I wish I could eliminate all those so-called protectors and bring my heart back to where it belongs. I would not be here if they didn't make the false promises. Oh well!!!

Sitara, and do u know how it all ended? did u know America used Atom bomb?? if not look it up :)

i, hope that Atom Bomb was the first and last that had been used, i dont wanna even think of this kind of weapon being used again, but if this continues, they wont hesitate to use what they have, nuclear weapons!

sitara, that was a certain period of time, but now the world is civilized, ppl know more than they use to know 50 yrs ago and they still act like illetrate thugs...or are they ?? i am asking not stating...

and one more thing, we both we all are stubborn asses and have our own points of view, u wont be able to change my point of view nor i will change urs, so its better if we quit this disscussion here...and talk abt something else,

so, how's life sitara??

Well sitara ji................i agree with confused my bro......................he has a style of writing where he is saying wirte....................i dont have anything against your writing...........you are kalam wali bai as nana patekar said to dimple in movie krantibir...........................u talk like mahatma gandhi.............make be we talk like neta ji subash chandra bose.................different view...........In todays word if u talk like gandhi..............those muslims will come to your house and slaughter your neck...........with more than pleasure...........i do have a lot of muslims fren............i talked to quit a lot and most of them are educated and Masters degree holder.............i couldnot find any face of grieve for these nepalese who was killed......instead i find them slightly smile but fake condolence...........I did talk with lot of my guest ............i use that word coz i am in hospitality industry...................These are the views

1. Scholar from canda..........truned in buddist..........he said" the way they are going is going to make them more hated"
2. MBA from australia....................." he said i wont be surprised to see 21 centuary cursaders if they came up"
3. Germans Computer engineer.............Well............what we need now is leader like hitler with positive aspects against these terrorism.
4.French Diplomat He said" we are lucky what happend to nepali can open the eye of french goverment...........what my country did to morocco on 20 yrs back seems to be wirght doing........otherwise we could have lived in terror more than america"

Americans ko kurai chodeau............ke kura garne

you also mentioned that National awakeing come by in negative aspects...........i wont even tell that national awkening..........in my view atleast we did supressed some muslims who has been brain washed' I might have dictator point of view .......but i see myself great leader rather than writer..................If u dont do now then never...........tell u what if Ghandhi couldnot have follow his non-voilence and raised his voice or subash chandra bose could have lead the nation.......tell u what Nepal could have benifted as well with India.........look at his non-voilence act partition, how many ppl lost their lifes.........how many refugees? U are educated and u know the history...........If moa couldnt have led the nation what could have happen..............China could have never been what it was? U need strong and dictatorship in nation to bring more changes and ppl view..........then u start the reform what den zao peng did..........yeah he killed the losts of student in tainman square but his reforms in china surely made it rich and powerful...........then his showed his flexibility in one country two system in china..........which is fine.........

Sitara............i dont mind being another janga bahadur rana..........to kick some ass in nepal and some lazybones youngager to keep in them in track....................i am sure that u know Mohmmad was kicked out of mecca then what he did was amazing,,,,,,,,,,,he gathered tribes who was fighting between each , he made them one and attack other.........any how nepgative or positive there is unity existing.......

Sitara u have mentioned too what is going to happen to those passport which is burned in riots.........tell u what kalamwali bai.........Nepal goverment has decided to pay 5 Lakhs each in petiton.......but u know what that money wont even go to those ppl.....it will be Jhyam in middle......so what is the difference here......with passport or not.........i am sure they already had put lot of money in agency......but what........there were 30 thousands passport found already with visa for middle east so we should send another sarifical goat in number of 30 thousands...........

It is true chilling audio and video brought ppl in street and create caos........which u said not been seen on moabadi........we only heard............but do u know, how many ppl in nepal being sacrified in name of maobadi.............my nephew was killed who went to village to visit family ............u know why coz he had some problem with local kajis.........and name was added to moasist.........goverment was not intrested in catching the guy.........done how easy moaist.........tomorrow i can burn u r house and walk back saying jai moabadi.............it will be them...........

Aba ta yesto bhai sako.........choro pani moryo, chori pani moryo.........only left old father what can he do? hold the rifle and better die in field........yesai marne usai marne.......none left....he is ready to die.......

i dont have any problems with muslims...........but i found there is something wrong with roots iteself......which is infected.......it is better to cut out ...........
sitara anyone can relegion in world can change ppl to muslim but tell u what u can never change muslim to hindu, christian, jews..........................

but u got skills to write but still u cant touch the heart of poor ppl in nepal which u lack is leadership............for me u r articles are like speech done by our great leaders in tudikhel when there was arrival on democracy........

Kalanki and Dananah:

Thank you for reading the article. I hope I was able to express some of your sentiments. I did receive quite a few letters from Nepal and around stating that the Nepali mass as a whole denounce the rioting and the senseless hooliganism in the name of religion. When the majority denounces any acts of violence, there is still hope for Nepal.

Confused and Money-minded:
My friends,
I am glad you have eachother to relate to and understand. As for me, I have given up on gluing together fragmented thoughts, phrases and delusionary analogies. I sincerely appologize!

Have a wonderful weekend, all!

In Peace.

Great article Sitara ji. I agree with u that it is not fair to put the ordianry muslims and the terrorists muslims along the same line. But I believe that we need to look for the reason why most of the terrorist acts are carried out by the muslims. Of course, situation in
Israel and Palestine is one of the reasons... but then why we dont see terrorist acts by the Christians in the same scale ? the reason is the way muslims are brought up and the wway people form other religions are brought up are very different. Other religions never teach to kill the infidels... but in Kuran, muslims are taught to kill, rather behead, the infidels... and some time back , i was watching one documentary in bbc... there was one 7 year old boy.. he was asked what he wants to become ... and u know what he said? he wants to kill the Christians in a suicide bomb attack like his hero, his unlce, did. he said allah would be happy with him if he could do that... now what does that mean? is it normal/natural for a 7 year old to talk like that? where is the fault? dont say that fanatics teach like that... where do fanatics learn such things? they read kuran which tells them to kill all those who do not believe in Islam. I am not sayign that ordinary muslims are bad people , but just saying that will not stop terrorism by these fanatics.. I beileve that a major change has to happen in Islamic thoughts and in Kuran .

Once again, good article ... Sitara ji....

hey jsut was goign through this thread and jsut felt to write a line or two.
i dont know right or wrong true or false but since i was that bloody tape of the killing of the neaplese my mind is covered witha cloud agaisnt muslims.i dont say we have to kill them and fight against each and everyonbe of them but i think this applies for 99% of the muslims of the world and that is :
muslims are not human or citizens of a any praticular country ,they are only muslims.they have nothing to do with humanity or the country cause for them the thing that matters the most even before thier life ,;et alone humanity and country, is their religion of islam. so me says muslims are only muslims

The first paragraph was very touching and very true indeed! after that the article lacked logical coherence. I wish the author did not sensationalize the nostalgia in diaspora to develop the pathos in order to support her stance against the violence against muslims. Those two things didn't quite connect well. But otherwise a very well written article.

"When the majority denounces any acts of violence, there is still hope for Nepal. "

Never expected to read such a patronizing statement from you Sitara. Bad girl. Tsk tsk.

The irony in writings with your point of view (and there have been many in the media recently) is that you contradict yourself by making a sweeping generalization similar to the one you denounce. Just like all Muslims are not to be blamed for the acts of a bunch of Islamic terrorists, the majority of the Nepalese people are not responsible for the unfortunate incidents that happened in Kathmandu.

It amuses me when people start dissecting the psyche of the Nepali people to explain the actions of a minority. Let us denounce the riots that took place in Kathmandu, but let us NOT try to squeeze all Nepalis into the same mold as the rioters. Let's put an end to this "Ohhh, where are these degenerate Nepalis headed now?" crap.

Bombastic and heavy words don't make a good read. Otherwise, every one of us would visit dictionary.com and call ourselves -writer. On the contrary, a good writing should be simple enough for everyone to understand and make sense out of it. Honestly, there is nothing to muse at in that article Miss Sitara. Duh.

Please leave Sitara alone and let her write. She deserves more credit than some of us are giving in this forum for her sphisticated style of writing, nice expression, clear thought and civil manner. We can learn a lot more from her than criticise her.

We are all sad what is happening back home in Nepal, however, wherever we go we seemed to carry our bad part of Nepal and Nepali culture (fighting, negativity and petty politics) with us. Let us be free from it.

Rein:
Thank you for your comments. Appreciate it. Sometimes, I wonder if there is a difference between fanatics and serial killers.

Mahakal:
The killings in Iraq is tragic but the riotings in Nepal did not resolve the issues.

Cardinal:
I appreciate your critique. Sometimes, I feel I do not sensationalize the pathos of the diaspora enough so that those in Nepal don't feel-- because we are away, abroad, we are insensitive to the goings on in Nepal. Back in July, I heard people say that the NRN (Non-residential Nepalese) are often too silent.

Repulican:
You have dared where I have never dared(despite having a background in both) to use socio-psychological buzz-words/statements like "dissecting the psyche of the Nepali people" out of context. Wow!

Sonika_NY:
It gives me great pleasure to know you read; with or without dictionary.com. You go girl!

Deepak ji:
I appreciate your support for my writings. One thing I have learned while writing (in and out of school), there are those who understand the nuance of an article and then, there are those who miss it. But my greatest pleasure is to know that people do read me despite their opposing views.

I thank all of my readers for that.

Late but not last, I think I should put some comments. Without any doubt you are great writer to the great reader (I am not great reader). I think somewhere within I fail to comprehend the actual meaning. To me, some sentence are more like Quatrain.

Nevertheless vision is great. By the way, what you have to say in favor of for those 12 unfortunate Nepalese and their family? What kind of kind action should be taken when that sort of aggression arise? Should we sit at home and keep re-playin same mpeg on and on. I am against ethinic war as well, but at least I don't curse agitator for burning down those MANPOWER agency. We have been vandalizing for a decade for no reason, whats wrong with one more riot act. Lets take it as tribute to those Nepali who loss their life.

I want read more like this from you SITARA. Next time Please put in simple format.

Pisces,
i am glad to read your comment. I felt the same way about the article and wrote soemething similar like yours. However, sitara jyu, shut me off by recommending a book and telling me to educate myself before i open my mouth in the world of sophisticated intellectuals who only make sense to each other.
Now , considering my monetary situation and busy schedule to survive in this fast pace -money sucking society, i won't be able to gain knowledge from that book for quiet a while. So, it's a pending project for me. BTW, sitara jyu should post prerequisites on the begenning of the article so ignorant people like me can gather necessary knowledge to even read such high -level articles with profound meanings.

Anyway, it's sad that articles such like that are often written targeting the audiences who are ignorant and need the light of enlightnment - in other words- fools like me. However, the language and complications of prerequisites are such that my group would never be able to understand the profound meaning hiding behind those shopisticated style of writing. So in over all, people like me benefit nothing from such intellectuals :( wish it wasn't like that.

I still do not understand what was the article all about and what was she trying to pass on. Was it about keeping your mouth shut and do nothing because the muslims have already well established reputation of being inhuman towards unbelievers? or was it that we should not be reactive towards such acts because we already have problems with our own people acting evil towards us; maoists and that justifies the act of murder against those poor Nepalis?

or are you trying to say that we shouldn't lose our temper in situation like that and be violent ?? is it simple like that?? what is it, what is it? i'm all confused.. dyamnnnn

jesus, k garnu padnay bela ma guccha kheleyo - ani aahilay yesto hard time bhai ra ko cha sitara jyu ko article padna....

Anyway, I respect your sitara ji.. you know why, cuz you're smarter than me.. i don't understand you - but hey, i still respect you...

hajur ko fan,
Dyamn bahadur...
