There are tons of people in Calgary.

Visit websites of two Nepalese Associations of Calgary:

http://www.calgarynepalese.ca/

and

http://www.nepalisociety.ca/

Check out the member lists of the associations, and see if you know someone there. To get phone numbers or contacts (emails), you can then write to the association email addresses.

They may organize a gathering in honor of you for interaction too. They are generous, and ready help the nepalese visiting Calgary.

The best guy to be contacted in Calgary is Mr. Rabindra Thanju. He is very very helpful. His email address is rthanju@telus.net

Another person is Dr. Raju Tuladhar <tuladhar@telus.net>

Happy Touring in Calgary, Banff.

Vancouver is beautiful and expensive.  There are at least 400 Nepalese in the area.  There are many nice areas.  There are many outdoor activities.  It depends on what you like..

Some of the activities/areas of interest include

-Whale watching

-Vancouver Acquarium

-Capilano Suspension Bridge

-Imax

-China Town

-Lookout at Harbror Center

-Stanley Park

-Gastown

-Dr SUn Yat Sen Chinese Garden

-Downtown

--There are nice beaches as well..

Food--

Many restuarants..

Vibrant city with lots of immigrants specially from China/Hongkong.

Public Transportation..

Saw many buses, but not sure how convinient the system is ...We rented a car in Seattle so didn't had to worry about that.  But I guess they are pretty good.

But if you know some one there then he/she should know about these places...

Enjoy!!!

If you have some time then I would suggest you to visit Victoria as well.  Ferry ride is not that bad.

Met a Nepali in Victoria also who ws running his own store.

Hi Freek,

Few more questions---

How is your budget?

What will be your means of transportation while in Vancouver?

You can go to most of these places in a tour package also..You should be able to get some info on such packages online.

We didn't take any tours--we just went on our own...Which is flexible but again depends on your busdget, time, etc.

You do not have to go to all these places.  You can just select the ones you like...

I will try to get some more info on these from local connection that I know.

Stay tuned.

--By the way Vancouver is not a cheap city...
