Crown prince Paras vandalized police headquarters, beat up three police IGPs

INSN, Kathmandu/Delhi, December 3, 2005. According to very reliable sources in Kathmandu, Crown Prince Paras Shah vandalized Nepal Police headquarters at Naxal, Kathmandu and beat up three Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) this afternoon. He reportedly accused them of not being able to provide security to him yesterday as he was on his way to the airport to receive his father Gyanendra who returned from a lengthy visit to Africa.

Violence erupted yesterday afternoon in Kathmandu after a group of pro-monarchy vigilantes attacked demonstrators at New Baneshwor who were particpating in a mammoth yet peaceful pro-democracy demonstration organized by the Communist Party of Nepal (UML). The enraged demostrators retaliated by pelting stones at the royalist vigilantes. The police used force against the pro-democracy activist while providing security to the royalist vigilantes. The angry demonstrators also pelted stones at the security convoy that passed through the road while the clash was taking place, to receive the royal couple at the international airport. Paras Shah was also on his way to receive the royal couple, protected by the security convoy.

Paras reportedly went to the police headqaurters around noon today, banged his car on the main gate, enteterd into the compound, called up the IGP of the Janpath Nepal Police Shyam Bhakta Thapa at his own office, broke chairs, and slapped him on his face several times. He then reportedly ordered the IGPs of the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department to report themselves imemdiately Nepal Police headquarters, lined them up, shouted at them and slapped all of them on their face and kicked them several times. Reportedly, he did this in full view of other police officers and personnel. He was reportedly, repeatedly asking them, ?What if the stones had hit me? I could have died. Why did you not provide security??

Paras also reportedly assaulted a Colonel of the Roayl Nepal Army, in charge of the security convoy yesterday.

The three police IGPs have reportedly complained about the insulting behaviour of the prince to the king, but have not made public the details of the incident.

Several major media houses in Kathmandu have reportedly confirmed with the police sources about the incident. But fearing action by the royals, they have not carried the news yet, at the time of writing this report (7:30 pm).

Some human rights activists and journalists in Kathmandu expressed the fear with INSN that a few dozen civilians arrested by the police after the incident yesterady may be tortured or even disappeared. Immediately after the incident, the police randomly arrested people from the surrounding area, accusing them of engaging in violence. The government has not made public the list of the people arrested, let alone their whereabouts as yet.

It is publicly known in Nepal that prince Paras has murdered and asslauted people several times in the past, before he became the Crown Prince, and has assualted journalists and businessmen after becoming the Crown Prince.

He was sure to beat the police officers .

but it is not the first time he has done this kind of stupid act..
few years ago, he was drunk and an inspector stopped him in baneswor, later he called him beat the hell out of him.
asshole, simply asshole, dumb and stupid. poor police officers couldn't do anything when mass of people suddenly comes.
he has power but he uses it very poorly, at least he should behave like a crown prince, not like gunda...

I like this idea... Paras keeps beating many other senior / junior officers in the army and police. At least, that won't hurt democracy but himself in the long run.

How long do we need to wait until this autocratic king is toppeled? Enough is enough!

This gunda Paras should be hanged immediately! I am against capital punishment but I might support it as very very special case.

What more can u expect from him?His erroneous acts and capricious behavior will definitely weaken monarchy and it's an eye opening for people who still want full monarchy in Nepal.

To warn is one thing.. Tara that a$$h0le is beating up people thats no joke. HOW dare he even do that. He should have been shot in there.. seriously.. kasto deemag na bhaa manchhe hola.. this is too much!

I just want to see him to do more of vandalizing and it will take only one "trigger happy" security officer to do the "right thing".

Yea I dont care that the police got slapped...if they ever grew balls to stand up to someone with power...rather than taking bribes and throwing the poor and innocent in jail in Nepal would be much better place...So Im glad he slapped those bitches....and until they get any sort of courage to retaliate I hope he keeps slapping them around like hoes.

I'm sad that Johnny took negative side of it. There's no way that situation is going to improve by doing that. It's gonna get worse. These officers are humiliated and other officers were threatened. They are gonna suppress and use their power more on suppressing demonstrators than giving security to public and maintaining law & order in society, which is supposed to be their primary responsibility. Why don't they get slapped when they're unable to capture the notorious criminals?

The IGPs, if they have any self respect, should resign immediately to protest such an insult.

Why should they (IGPs) resign....they have guns..they should provoke Paras one more time to vandalize the place.....and they(IGPs) should use their guns...this time....after all they were given guns to protect themselves and the public....

This is just extreme. God save those people who were arrested by Security personnel yesterday. I'm sure those arrested would be the by-standers who had no idea what was going on. Now, I won't be surprised if they would be tagged terrorists and get killed to set an example by the King. UML and those student wings should raise voices for the arrested people be released. Now is the time to lock and burn the government offices/vehicles, if needed.
One thing I don't understand is, where the fcuk are those Maoists who are actually armed. If the general public could attack Parase, why couldnt fcukin Maoists use ARMS to damage Royals? I'm sure they could if they wanted to, but I don't know why they only want to bomb general public?.....They're all messed up.....God Bless our Nepal.....
