If there is no GOD, then man and the universe are doomed. Like prisoners condemned to death, we await our unavoidable execution. There is no GOD, and there is no immortality! And what is the consequence of this? It means that life itself is absurd. It means that the life we have is without ultimate significance, value, or purpose.

Nepaliguy your writing shows that you have very little self confidence and belief in yourself. You are weak that is why you constantly need to feel connected to a bigger cause whether it exists or not. Do you think animals and insects have a meaning for life? How about millions of microscopic organisms? Do you think they all have a meaning? Do you think god selected you personally to live on this planet or was it a sheer coincidence of your parents union that created you?
Religion and god is for the weak who cannot accept their day to day reality so they need a support structure to give them a meaning. You are just another animal who has become civilized. Before civilization man was just another animal in the jungle. Some animals have small brains some have bigger brains. We have bigger brains in order to adapt to our environment and at this point we are in control of a lot of things, but we forget that the universe is our home and we are constantly in a race to see who can create more weapons to destroy the earth. All other animals learn to live harmoniously with the environment.
The universe itself is GOD. We are all part of the universe.

Somebody so powerful, so omnipresent doesn't need to be validated again and again by us meeks. Even if we go with the theory of the superbeing, why don't we just continue doing what he sent us to do that is do our shit than constantly tell others what to do? You worship God, great, keep doing that. Shiva_linga here doesn't want to, leave him alone. By posting in multiple threads with same rhetorics, you are only pissing more people off.

I am not trying you believe what you want to believe. I am just throwing you ideas. If you like you take it, if you do not like you do not take it. That's what we do in academia correct?

God is one, we humans multiplied it. We (human beings) can not create a fly but we can create God by dozens.
Happy Friday. Happy searching...

Paulsmith you said
" An atheist is a man who believes himself an accident. Wow !!!"
Do you really think your birth on this planet was not an accident? Did you think it was not a fluke that during one of the times of your parental bliss you were conceived? Do you really believe everything was meant to happen?
As a human being you have the choice to do things. Right now you have the choice of replying, or waiting till later to reply or not replying. You can choose any one of the options and the choice you make was not meant to happen but you made it happen due to the coincidence of you and I coming to this site and starting to type our thoughts.
Everything that happens is governed by one's own will in collaboration with the chances that govern when multiple things occupy the same space. When you drive to work, you pass along many people, sometimes due to coincidence it might give opportunity for you to talk to someone, which could lead to more things and before you know it you might even get married get kids etc etc. So one fluid accident gives rise to many future possibilities.
Only the weak of mind need to believe in god to provide them with support because they are too weak to admit that some stupid chance governs every step of their life. You feel lost so you want to find a way out. I don't feel lost nor need to find support in anything because I am complete on my own, as part of the universe which is the real higher power that you so want to personify into something more than it is. The universe is god, it gives birth to chances and possibilities.

nepaliguy... what we do in academia is divulge less on speculations and more on topics that are determined to be true through extensive study. I believe countless experiments and studies have been conducted to prove the existence of god and if u can provide us a single proof.. that will be an step towards making us question if meaning without god is possible.. until then.. yes meaning without god is possible and each of us are all living it every single day..

God is merely a word. Usually when people say "God," they usually mean some entity living somewhere high in space and controlling all the natural phenomenon and activities of humans. The word God should be taken very cautiously. The word God is used by science in very different way. Scientist call it 'unified field of total natural law,' philosopher call it 'reality or truth,' psychologist call it 'consciousness' etc. Most people have extreme problem with the word God. In sajha, I am not going to debate about whether God exists or not because this is the field of no-mind where reason and logic doesn't apply. Direct intuitive knowledge is required to understand the subtlety of this universe. The unified field of total natural law is beyond words.

@ujl :"Unified field of total natural law" seems more like a pseudo-science than an actual scientific reference, similar to "Creation Museum" claiming that man and dinosaurs walking the earth is a scientific fact.

I know my atheist friends believe there is no God. I believe there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. So we agree 50% atleast.
Let me share this story:
Imam Abu Hanifa (may God have mercy on him) was asked by an atheist: “What is the evidence pointing to the existence of Allah?” and he replied, “Forget it! At the moment, I am busy thinking about this ship. People tell me there is a big ship, it contains different goods on board. There is no one to steer it, no one maintaining it. Yet, this ship keeps going back and forth; it even traverses big waves on the oceans; it stops at the locations that it is supposed to stop at; it continues in the direction that it is supposed to head. This ship has no captain and no one planning its trips.”
The atheist who posed the question interrupted and exclaimed, “What kind of strange and silly thought is this? How can any intelligent person think that some thing like this can occur?”
Abu Hanifa said, “I feel sorry about your state! You can not imagine one ship running without someone looking after its affairs; yet you think that for this whole world, which runs exactly and precisely, there is no one who looks after it, and no one owns it.”
Let's talk about the Big Bang theory. It is the latest position reached by science on the formation and beginning of the Universe.
I will let Al-Qur'an speak about it:
30. Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity (were joined together as one united piece), and We separated/parted them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe (and realize that there is a Creator)?
31. And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift/sway/shake with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads/paths that they might be guided (to their destinations during travel).
32. And We made the sky a protected/guarded roof/ceiling, but they, from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc.), are turning away (failing to reflect on them and thus realise that the Creator of such things can have no partner).
33. And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming/floating (in the space).
34. And We did not grant to any man before you [O Muhammad] eternity/immortality [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal/immortal?
35. Every soul/self (person) will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned. [Al- Qur'an 21:30-35]
"O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you (i.e. Adam) from dust, then from a sperm-drop (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge i.e. offspring of Adam), then from a clinging clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it water (rain), it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind." [Al-Qur'an 22:5]

Who could have said these things 1400 hundred years ago? Creator of the universe correct?

Uji,"The word God is used by science in very different way. Scientist call it 'unified field of total natural law,' philosopher call it 'reality or truth,' psychologist call it 'consciousness' etc." Potatoes Potaatoes Its all the same. If all of them saw IT at the same time then there would be a unified agreement on who IT is. Since nobody has seen, heard, felt, taste, or experienced IT therefore the variations.

@paulsmith: Someone who was entirely wrong about how the earth, moon and sun was created... what's your thought process when you decide to believe in a book that's centuries old, with baseless claims while you decide to overlook all the scientific research that actually provides you reasons as to why and how certain things came to be?
