If anyone has seen Office Space, I'm exactly like the lead character. There is nothing in the world that I want except to do nothing. I have tried and tried and tried to find something that I enjoy, or that will motivate me. Everything I can find is painfully boring. Travelling, a career, hobbies, meeting people - all of it bores me to tears. I only do the minimum in life to get by and it grates my nerves to do that much.

Sometimes I go hungry for a couple days because it's just so damn boring to go to the grocery store. It boggles my mind how some people hop out of bed and go about doing things, when it takes such enormous will to do something like washing the dishes.

I get by in life by scavenging and I have never held a job for more than a few months because the boredom overwhelms me. I'm so ashamed of myself and I'd give anything to feel motivation and drive for something. The only reason I do anything at all is so that I can keep a roof over my head.

If you remember there are quite a few animals, body color changes with the surrounding environment...you may be watching too much TV and acting like Americans.

I hope you were not made in a DNA lab, you were made by your parents in a natural way. I hope you are responsible for their roof, too.

Take care.

Gurl,,,,

I know what you are saying. I also do things just for the sake of doing them. If I can get by without doing something, I wont do it. I dont have any motivation either. This is the reason why I have been going to college for so many years and still dont have a bloody major. Parents nag, friends b***h, people talk. Hate it all but still I dont want to do anything for myself.

I am bored to the core too. Like you said, everything is just plain boring. I go to work but I get so bored I dont talk to any of the co-workers. I hang out with my friends but I cant open up to them cause I think things will get more boring after I say stuff. If I do something, I keep asking myself why am I doing it and tell myself instead of doing this, I could be at home sleeping.

By the way, what is your email add? Would like to talk to you more.....

Crystal......

You are simply lazy that's all. Try to do some Breathing Exercise first thing in the morning. You are bored with everything might be a sign of High Cholesterol ,or Depression. If you feel like just watching TV and sleeping all the time that means you do have a High Cholesterol. When your body accumulates too much fat that you are bored with everything. Go and check your Cholesterol. You need to do Breathing Exercise to get some Oxygen. You do that first thing in the morning. Go on Google and type Breathing Exercise.

metalgal, sorry to hear that. But it is 100% confirmed, the feeling you having has a name - "depression". Most people never know it and they never manage to get out of it, and they are being deprived good quality life, because they don't know it. First they think it is usual to have such feelings, always tried and not-motivated. Wrost - they never talk what they are feeling.. and the things keep going on and on..

Good thing, you spoke out in this forum and there show up many other people like you. It is not bad, we get depression. First thing is, accept it - it is just a disease. Second step - you should learn about it. Read about it, get more information and seek treatment..

In order to fight depression, one needs to go out, do exercise, but it is soo bad, one gets just tired and prefers to sleep all day in dark.. that worsens the condition and so on.. it is kind of vicious cycle.

Don't think it is just emotional thing. In fact, what we feel is a effect of what is going inside our brain. Normally people with depression has lesser amount of active neuro-transmitters in brain. Taking vitamin B (B6, B12), Omega3, 6 oil (fatty acids) helps. In order to get motivational, listen some therapeutical audio. (one such is Lucinda Bassets "Fighting anxiety and depression" audio series (you can download from torrents :)..

Let me give you some tips to fight this -
1. Take quality multivitamins, (B complex), with vitamin D and Calciums. Deficiency of Vitamin B complex, folic acid, iron, potassium or any of them causes depression. Start taking quality multivitamins and minerals.
2. Fatty acids (omega3 and 6) are MUST for brain. In fact 70% of our brain is made of fatty acide. Get quality fish oil capsuls. It is good antioxidant - burns your fats and keeps skin healthy.
3. Exercise - either play some game, swimming, or whatever.. Take plenty of drinking water.
4. Sleep - sleep is medicine. Sleep in time and sleep enough. You will feel the difference- you start thinking clearly, feel more energetic. Never sit infront of computer or tv after ten. Sleep deprivation is the major cause of daytime fatigue and tiredness.
5. Trust on some good friends. Make few friends close to you. It might be difficult initially - but some people are really understanding and they help you.
6. Listen inspirational speech, stories, movies.
7. Avoid alcohol and smoking - it kills brain cells.
8. Avoid sweets, caffeine, fat foods, soda - they harm your brain.

If you act with discipline, you will start feeling the difference in one month. You feel more energetic and want to learn stuffs. It is a constant fighting - takes some time. But you can have quality life back.

There are some good herbal medicines too, but their effect has not be standardized. One of them is SAM-e (google it). It is good mood establisher. Not sure where do you live. It can be bought over the counter in USA and is a prescription drug in Europe. You might wanna try it..

NEVER USE ANTI-DEPRESSANT DRUGS. They might have reverse effect. Try it as a last option.

Final note - what you are feeling is not usual. You can care it. You can overcome it. And you will have your quality life again. Dont give up.

Best of luck!
