I worked with the same situation. I am not sure what will happen but I did work while my OPT was still pending.

I have the same prob. I applied for OPT on May haven't received my EAD card yet. My fulltime will start from Sept 1. Can I still start full time without receiving my OPT granted EAD card?

After I receive my EAD card what am I suppose to do with it. Because I'll start fulltime at the same place where I am currently doing a paid CPT.

Replies appreciated.

You guys are good to work.I was in same situation last year, I did not have the OPT card on hand, but had to start the job.I showed the page of I20 where it was mentioned that my OPT is pending, to the employer and told them I will send them the copies of OPT card when I receive it.Well, they were cool with it and I did send them the copies upon receive of OPT card as promised..so was happy ending, I hope same should happen to u guys , but it could depend on your employer if they will agree or not.good luck people!

My employer is not good but the Best employer we can imagine. I love where I work. But my residency always come in between my work. That sucks. So what is the main purpose of the EAD card.

Do I really have to submit the copy of  my EAD card to my employer even though they have no problem me working there.

Thanks in advance.

Legally you can't.

I found this on one site regarding questions on OPT.
  • How soon can I start working?
  • You may not start your practical training until you have received the EAD (OPT) card and the start date on the card has been reached. Working before receipt of your EAC card will lead to illegal employment that caused a violation of your visa status.
