Guys, I got a bitter experience with Air India regarding baggages. My baggages were delayed and haven't got them yet. The baggages are still at Delhi Airport and they are asking for some customs whereas the baggages needed to be sent to KTM I don't find anything for which customs need to be paid and even if it needed to be paid, I will be happy to pay at KTM airport.

I haven't got the baggages yet. It's already been 9 days. Just to be safe, don't ever travel with Air India.

Yup. Actually, don't even travel via India route. Avoid India as much as possible.

.
It can happen with any airline..
I lost my baggage with Qatar Airlines last year.
....needed three days to find out where it was.
..came after 10 days after it has been to Abu Dhabi,
Tokyo and Bangkok.
It happened with American Airlines too.... flight from Seattle to Dallas ..
in 2003..recieved my baggage after 7 days
and I had to pay the charges for finding my own luggage.
Because I had discount fare...

There is no perfect Airline...
They all have same disease..
....saving money on staffs
..unreliable ..May I help you? call centres

Actually they cannot help anything..
"They go on like "Sorry I will forward your request this is just call centre.."
...not woking e-ticketing with no customer service...
.

I agree it can happen to any airlines... but it's a night mare with Air India. At least Sayami got some information and at least in other airlines you can speak with customer service representative. But, with Air India... NO WAY ... If you don't agree, try calling their Chicago Baggage Serices at Oha're International Airport: they don't pick up phone despite whatever time you call them and moreover if it prompts to voicemail you will find it always full .. no way to leave message !! In their website, they have written in advertisement: HELP US FIGHT CORRUPTION , VIGILANCE DEPT. But, if you go that website you will see message :-
This link is purely meant for dealing with corrupt practices and people and not for redressal of complaints pertaining to problems with
Baggage and claims thereof
Customer services
Confirmations
Bookings / re bookings
Onboard Services
Behaviour of Ground Staff
Inflight Crew

It is ridiculous that they don't see above mentioned practices/problems as similar to corruption !!

I would generally avoid Air India and flying via India unless I absolutely must.

Air India's customer service is close to nil. If you have to make any changes, they will try not to allow it. And even if they do, they will charge a hefty sum. This is in sharp contrast to Cathay Pacific or Thai Airways who are always willing to accomodate their customers.

I would say, pay few hundred dollars more and fly with a dependable airline, like aforementioned.

Hongkong chinese people working for Cathay Pacific can be more unfriendly than Indians or Nepali.Thai Airways has friendly people inside plane but at the counters in Bangkok airport, you will experience different.

tdid you have a split ticket?
from usa to india
india to ktm?
the last airline that took you to your final destination
should be able to assist you.
you can also ask for compensation from the airlines directly for days that you dont have your luggage.
